Wedding and reception shoes

Sarah, on April 29, 2020 at 2:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20
Is anyone on here having two different pairs of shoes for your wedding? I want more of a heel for the wedding and more of a flat or sparkly like tennis shoe for the reception. I am thinking a white heel for the wedding and maybe like a red colored shoe for the reception. If anyone is changing their shoes for the reception are you going to have a shoe that is a fun color like red or just a black or white shoe? Also I am doing Beauty and the Beast themed wedding.

I'm doing two different pairs! Wearing these Betsy Johnson block heals for the ceremony and detail shots, and then changing into white converse for the reception! Converse are always my casual go to! Here are some pictures:

I have some really pretty heels that I was wearing for the rehearsal dinner that are Beauty and the Beast themed:

They're super comfortable. You have to air them out for awhile - I think she uses spray paint to get the gold - but they're really comfortable and cute! I think she does flats and tennis shoes too if you wanted to go that route.

If you are opting to change shoe height, be wary of how that will affect the length of your dress. If you go from high heels to short, your dress may become too long to walk around in once you change shoes. I would talk to the seamstress and maybe have an idea of which shoes you want. I personally just wore flats for all of it because I hate heels and no one really sees your shoes anyway.

I'm planning on heels for the ceremony and changing into sneakers for the reception! Keds sells sparkly platform sneakers and I'm in LOVE. They are super cute, and since they are platforms, dress length won't be as much of an issue.

Actually I’m doing the oppositeSmiley smile . I have flats for the ceremony and initial part of the reception and then switching to a halter dress and heels for the late night part( about 2-3 hours towards the end of the event )but should be worth it!!

I am actually planning on wearing a different dress for the reception after I do the father daughter dance and the first dance. I plan on changing into a yellowish or gold dress (like Bell’s dress).

I wore like 1.5 inch wedges which was the perfect compromise between being fancy and comfy for me haha. My only concern with changing shoes would be if they’re different heights then the length of your dress could be an issue (it would be either too short for the heels or too long for the flats). I’d say do something like I did and just find a really comfortable low heel, or just wear sparkly sneakers the whole time lol. Honestly, no one sees your shoes. Out of the 3,000 photos taken at our wedding, I think you can see my shoes in literally 1 photo 😂

Oh, then it totally doesn't matter! It makes total sense to change your shoes if you're changing your dress!

Oh, I love that you are doing a Beauty and the Beast theme!! That will be so pretty!! I got the Belle dress from Alfred Angelo from their Disney line before they went out of business. For shoes, I was going to do a white heel to a sparkly black flat but decided that I'll just wear the flats for it all. I'm even changing dresses into a shorter black dress. Maybe you can do a white heel and then a yellow or blue or red tennis shoe or converse??

I am honestly planning on changing my dress after I do the father daughter dance and the first dance. So I would have the second dress length to the flat shoes.

That will look really nice!! Are you wanting them to be pointy or rounded?? Do you want them to be sparkly or have laces??

I'd caution against having two pairs of shoes with different heel heights if you have a floor length dress. If your dress is long enough to graze the floor with a pair of taller heels it will be too long for sneakers or flats, and you'll risk tripping. If you are wearing a shorter dress it can totally work, but if you have a long dress I'd stick with shoes that are within an inch or so of the same heel height.

Honestly I don’t really know. I don’t normally stray from wearing tennis shoes.

I am surprising him with Beauty & The Beast theme, but not that extreme. We just have similar love story to them. I uploaded a few of my B&TB theme stuff on WW.

I have 3 pairs of shoes. I can’t wear flat. I am wayyyy to short (4”7). Beside, I can’t wear heels on our beach ceremony, too dangerous. And for the reception, I will wear the lower wedge only when the heels hurts. Just for a backup 😉 Wedding and reception shoes 4

Well if you are more comfortable in tennis shoes then you should go with that and have them custom made to reflect what you would like. You could do sparkly red tennis shoes or have simple red tennis shoes. Do you like Vans or more of the Nike type tennis shoes?

Not planning to wear separate shoes. But make sure that your dress is altered to fit the flats, otherwise it will drag and you/guests will step on it
