Wedding After Party - Still in your dress? Or outfit change?

Lynnie, on October 21, 2015 at 1:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 30

For those of you who will be (or did) go to an after party or bar after your wedding, did you keep your wedding dress on? Or did you change into something else?

I feel like I'd want to change, but then you risk getting to your room and realizing you are too tired to go back out!

If I find a dress that I really love, I am definitely keeping it on! Might even sleep in it. You only get one day, dammit.

I kept my dress on! I spent a good amount on the dress and only get to wear it once, I didn't want to take that thing off! Yes, it was a pain in the ass and several times I got caught up on things or people stepped on it but I'm so glad I didn't change.

I added a cardigan before the after party because it was a tad chilly and because I wear them all the time so it was very me!

I feel bad since it's so much money for one day, but I'm probably taking mine off.

I'm wearing the same dress all day. We aren't really doing an after party though. DJ is going to be there until 1 so we're just partying until then with whoever sticks around.

I was forced to wear mine until my luggage got there and when it finally arrived I couldn't wait to change out of my dress.

Keeping it on! Wedding is officially over at 9:30 but it's a Saturday and our venue is in the heart of a great bar hopping area. So I'm changing in to flats and dancing the night away!

I was going to do a reception dress. I bought one and brought it with because my dress was mermaid and thought I would want out of it after dinner since it's so tight. But I didn't! I loved it and loved what it symbolized and wanted to wear it all night. I ended up returning the reception dress [got at Macy's and left tags on so I could return].

Our dance went until midnight, and lots of people went out after. But after we cleaned up and left it was 1:00 and DH and I just went back to hotel and by then I just wanted PJ's Smiley smile If I had gone to bar I wouldve just gone in dress because it takes to long to change out of, and you only wear it once!

I totally relate to not wanting to leave the hotel room after changing. Don't sit on the bed for the love of all that's fun!

I think about this quite often. During the timeframe when I bought a dress and subsequently began to hate it, all I could think about was changing out of it immediately after the reception.

But then I found a dress I LOVE LOVE LOVE, and now I don't think I'll want to take it off.

Then again, the after-party is at my future in-laws, most likely a late night pork-roast. Lots of drinking, dancing on the back lawn, etc. I can totally see some uncle giving me a hug and leaving greasy handprints on my dress. So...maybe I'll change into yoga pants and a teeshirt. Keep it classy!

I wore my dress all night long! Even when DH changed before the after party, there was no way I was taking it off!

I ended up wearing my dress the whole night and I loved it. I saw a dress (pictured below) at our city's fashion week a couple days before and wanted that as my after party dress but unfortunately it was from an avant garde collection and the designer needed it for the finale the night of the wedding. Either way, I'm glad I got to wear my dress for so long and we got to do some cool photos at the brewery we went to (other pic with my fabulously purple haired photographer). The second dress probably wouldn't have fit the vibe and I love my actual dress so much anyways!

LOL Angela I can only imagine where you'd have to go.

I absolutely plan to wear my dress to our after party. I doubt I'm ever going to want to take it off, it's pretty and it cost enough.
