DOC, STD, MOH... huh?!

You might be seeing a few abbreviations here and there in the community, and some might leave you like this...

So to help you out, here is your guide to the abbreviations and acronyms we use around the community to streamline our chats.

WEDDING ACRONYMS

BAM: back and married

BIL: brother-in-law

BM: bridesmaid, best man
DIY: do it yourself
DOC: day-of coordinator
DW: destination wedding
DS: dear spouse
E-party: engagement party
E-pics: engagement pictures
FG: flower girl
FFIL: future father-in-law
FIL: father-in-law
FILs: future in-laws
FMIL: future mother-in-law
FOB: father of the bride
FOG: father of the groom
FS: future spouse
GM: groomsman
MIL: mother-in-law
MOB: mother of the bride
MOG: mother of the groom
MOH: maid of honor
MUA: make-up artist
OOT: out of town (guests)
RB: ring bearer
RD: rehearsal dinner
SIL: sister-in-law SO: significant other
STD: save the date

    Every time I see someone use STD for Save-the-Date, I cringe. I don't think you want STDs for your wedding...

    Yep! And DW is dear wife. We've recommended DS or FS as spouse isn't gendered.

    I have also seen BAS and BAB? also FI but wasn't sure if that was supposed to be something else lol Any translations on those?

    Those mean Back and Showered and Back and Bacheloretted/Bachelored, where members share pics and tell us about pre-wedding parties.

    Can you show me FI in context? FI is probably Future Intended, though I don't see that one used too often.

    Thank you! Future Intended makes sense. I always thought it was a typo for FH or something. I have seen that pop up quite a bit some one will say "me and my FI"or "has your FI..." i deal with acronyms all day at work so I have been pretty good on picking up on most but those just threw me, hahaha.
