website insert cards in invites.

Shellie, on June 6, 2011 at 8:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

So I was planning on putting an insert card into our invites saying, "for more information please visit our website" with our web site info.

My MOH/sister said it seemed tacky and my wording sounded like a "commercial for erectile dysfunction pills"

So I put out 3 questions

1- do you think it's tacky to have a business sized card with your website info on it? (on our website there will be hotel information, babysitting info, directions/maps, along with registry and info about our 2nd reception)

2- Do you think the wording is weird?

3- other wording ideas?

I did about the same thing, but I had postcard sized STD cards with a quote and our www. on the back. So

    1. I think it's great to keep people up to date and provide extra info

    2. The wording seems kind of sterile to me, but I don't have any suggestions, sorry

Are you sending out save the dates? That would be a great place for the website information. If you've already done them, I wouldn't think it was tacky to put the website info in with the invitations.

How about "Please visit our wedding website for information about our special day and things to do in the [town your wedding is in] area."

We haven't done save the dates yet. i didn't think of putting them on there- or the RSVPs, though IDK about those because people would be sending them back to us and wouldn't have the website if they needed it later on....

but i'd still like suggestions for better wording if anyone has some....

Also, if any of your guests are technologically savvy, you can always just send a nicely worded mass e-mail with the link to your site.

We were told to just add it at the end of our invite - just at the bottom no intro to it, just the url.

We received one from a friend that had it on a business-sized card, but it was just the url, no intro.

I think it's nice to include. It's not tacky at all - just a new trend. (The only way I think it could be tacky is if you ONLY have registry info on the website.)

I don't know 98% of my guests e-mails. thats kinda sad i think.

*the fact that i don't know their e-mails- not the idea!

The save the dates are usually postcards or magnets that people keep - they don't mail them back, so it would be a nice place to put your website. And lots of people put their website on an insert in the invites now.

    STD Magnet on Free Postcards

    100 free postcard from vistaprint.com

    25 free magnets

add white envelopes and matching return labels.

    $12.01

and you can then put in a second order for 25 more free ones = $7.61

also use the link below and 50 more would cost $7 and S&H = $12.67

3 orders = 100 postcards and 100 magnets, 100 envelopes and Matching return labels = $32.29 (that is like saying they are $0.32 per magnet and the other stuff is Free)

I forgot to mention that we are doing 2 receptions and only save the dates for 1. So though i really like the idea of putting it on the save the dates- how would i get the info out to the other set of people?

and when i said mail back i meant the rsvp's

I love the magnet idea for save the dates- but even $30 is more then i want to spend if i can help it. we will probably just do postcards.

I don't think its tacky. I'm not doing returned rsvp's, so I used the small card as a "reception" card. It has all the reception info, plus where they can rsvp...by phone, email, or website.

I created a wedding only email that I've been using for everything.

I'm not having a reception card because our ceremony and reception are in the same place. so I guess it would be similar to what ednabugg is doing.

I just really need help with wording! something that doesn't sound like a viagra commercial....
