Weather report?!

Naomi, on June 28, 2017 at 9:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 33

I know weather can change in an instant, but when did others start checking and planning for the weather for their big day. I am 7 days out and it's ever changing. Now it says AM showers for our day. Arghh why is it so freakin rainy in Vermont this year?!

    I'm 16 days out and have already started looking at accuweather extended forecast. Says 60% chance of thunderstorms all day.

    I started looking a week before but honestly I expected rain. You can't get married in April without expecting it to be wet outside Smiley smile

    The weather is the one thing about your day you cannot control. As long as you have a rain plan (tent or indoor space), it will be fine! There's been lots of beautiful BAMs on here with rainy day photos. Your day will be gorgeous, even if it's a little different than you originally thought!

    Even though my ceremony and reception were all indoors, I still checked the weather report daily for about a month before my wedding. I live in So Cal and we had some wacky weather this winter with lots of storms and flooding. It called for rain pretty much every time I checked. Rain wouldn't be the worst thing, since we were indoors, but my venue had cute courtyard area to take pictures outside. The weather turned out perfect! Sunny with temps in the low 70s.

    I started checking as soon as it was available. I had an outdoor ceremony and we were showing 100% chance of heavy thunderstorms. We had Plan B ready to go, rush ordered rain boots and umbrellas so we could get some pictures outside... Then the morning of the wedding we woke up and the weather was beautiful and there wasn't a cloud in the sky all day.

    If the weather is looking bad, don't get discouraged! It will work out either way and at the end of the day you'll be married!! And I agree with PPs -- rain photos are gorgeous!

    I checked 2 weeks before for our engagement photos and it was supposed to pour and thunderstorm but they are today and now it is beautiful and not a cloud in the sky!

    @Kris10, where did you rush order umbrellas from?

    My DH works for a local tv station. When we were coming up to our wedding one of the meteorologists there told him that the forecasts in regards to rain, etc are not really all that accurate until about 3 days out. It was tough but I had to remind myself that there is only so much I can control and the weather is not one of those things! I made sure I had solid back up plans in place with my venue and let it go. Everything turned out amazing and my worries were for nothing!

    I started obsessing over whether Punxsutawney Phil was going to do the right thing and we'd get an early spring to increase our chances of getting our outdoor ceremony as soon as we booked the venue (so since Feb 2016). The imp let me down and predicted 6 more weeks of winter. After that, I cooled it for a month. In March, I started hearing news of winter storms hitting my home state, and I think about 2 weeks before the wedding was when I became glued to the forecast.

    Fortunately, our venue let us decide the day of the wedding whether we wanted to move the ceremony inside. We ended up getting to keep it outside.

    I checked after the rehearsal dinner and I had flurries with less than 1 inch accumulation of snow and we ended up with 6 inches.

    I started checking 14 days before. The predicted forecast changed daily. It went from thunderstorm, to showers, to cloudy, back to showers, back to thunderstorm, etc. every day up until the wedding. Even up until the night before! You really won't know until the day of, unfortunately. BUT we had rain on our wedding day, even a storm, but it was still a fantastic day (and we were even able to get some gorgeous outdoor photos).

    @Naomi Amazon! Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YB7T04/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    I searched rain pictures on pinterest and loved the ones that used a clear umbrella like this.

    Yeah, I can't stop checking. I'm being a crazy person but our venue is so beautiful and we NEED sun. Obviously it is what it is, I'm going to have clear umbrellas on standby.
