Heather, on March 17, 2016 at 5:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I am blind with out my glasses so I can't go without them and I tried contact lenses and they messed my eyes up even more.. So for the ladies that has or had to wear them what are you doing for make up?

I'm still torn. I didn't want to spend the $60 on a contact exam plus spending extra on contacts just for the wedding. I might not wear the glasses for some of the photos and then wear glasses for the rest? I will get awful headaches if I don't wear glasses for the whole day!

Light brown/gold, hint of sparkle, maybe highlighting to make them look more "open", no mascara (I was "blessed" with my dad's long lashes.. which means even when my glasses are practically falling down my nose, they still drag across the lenses and leave me having to clean the damn things every 30 or so minutes.

Rest of the face, going for a natural look just to balance out the high colour in my cheeks.

Probably going to time my next set of glasses and pick ones that will look nice for the wedding. Perhaps a gold half frame or a really jazzy chunky full frame.

There are a few brides on here that wore their glasses on their wedding day and looked absolutely beautiful. If contacts aren't a thing you normally wear, there is no reason you shouldn't wear your glasses. And like MissGeek - new frames is always an option

I definitely recommend keeping your glasses on. Not only will you want to see everything during the day (small detail. Lol), but you will want to look like yourself. Us 24/7 glasses people can look strange without glasses. Because glasses is all we and anyone else know on us! I did like that I wore fake lashes to help accentuate the lashes. I felt like they were very uncomfortable at the trial, so she suggested cutting the lashes and only putting the strip on the ends of my lashes. I barely felt them, but they made a huge difference.

I am planning on wearing mine - I literally only see blobs of color without them! FH agrees, and said I wouldn't look like me without them. I don't normally line my eyes, so I think that and some highlighter should emphasize them more behind the frames?

You didn't ask for my opinion (I'm not 'a bride who wears glasses') but this in the internet, so I will chime in anyway-- wear them! If you wear them dailly, people will hardly recognize you without them. Plus, the woman with glasses is the woman your FS loves. Be you on your wedding day!

I am absolutely wearing mine - they've been on 24/7 since I was 7, and I am definitely not 'me' without them. FH agrees, "'Punkin' (me!) wears glasses!" Between now and wedding I'm going to get a new set of frames, likely semi-frameless (open at the bottom) so they are not so obvious/intrusive for photos and makeup. I've had it suggested to me before to beware of going too heavy on the eye makeup, as the glasses will naturally make your eyes pop as it is - but similarly, don't under-do it, as the glasses will highlight your eye area in photos. Sounds like there's a fine balance for MUAs!

I definitely want to be able to see the looks on everyone's faces that day (especially my groom!) and I want to be able to see all of the pretty things that we are spending money on that day. I can see about 2 feet in front of me without glasses and I'd be walking around with my arms out on front trying not to run into anything. I could get by; I used to train as a dancer and because it was necessary to perform without glasses, I never took class or rehearsed in glasses. But it was rough to do that. Plus, everyone who has known me since my ballerina days never see me without glasses and think I look too different when they catch me wiping my lenses. My FH is in that group. I want him to recognize me at the wedding!

Just like you, I can't wear contacts. I decided not to wear my glasses during the ceremony and professional pictures, but I wore them during the reception. I can see people but can't make out their facial expression from afar, so I talked to our photographer and asked her to take tons of pics of DH as he saw me walk down the aisle. Best pictures ever Smiley smile

I'm doing my make-up in a way similar to how I always do it for fancy events-where I wear my glasses. I'm not sure what make-up has to do with wearing glasses on your wedding day, unless you NEVER wear make-up, and are confused. [ I only wear it about 5 times a year]

In general, don't do something that is dramatically different than your normal look. You want your photos to still look like YOU. How you do your eye makeup with glasses on still has to do with your general eye shape and coloring, then the shape and style of your frames needs to be taken into account too.

If you tend to wear trendy glasses with brightly colored accents or bold plastic frames, you might want to get a more neutral/formal pair for your wedding day look.

You could try contacts again. I never wear mine and only ever wear glasses. My eye doctor just gave me a couple of contacts for free of my prescription since its for my wedding.

I'm SO torn on this! I can wear contacts for about 4-6 hours at a time, but they make my eyes horribly dry and red by the end. Plus, I'm so used to seeing myself with glasses that when I don't wear them, I feel like a blind mole-person version of myself.

I'm going to do a MUA trial with both and decide. I may switch between them on the day - I know I can get them out without ruining eye makeup. Putting them in, on the other hand..... To prepare I'm going to try wearing contacts for longer periods all summer and fall.

I prefer my glasses over my contacts for normal every day use, but definitely plan on wearing contacts for the wedding. I think it's most important to just be comfortable though!

I plan to wear my contacts for the day. I rarely wear them, but part of me doesn't want to wear my glasses. My eyes are weird though, I might need to end up wearing my glasses (My contacts slip out of place and I have to readjust them because of my stigamtisms and I don't think they fitted my eyes right). Does anyone else reach up to adjust their glasses when wearing their contacts and feel like an idiot because they aren't there?

Have you talked to your eye doctor about your contact troubles? When I switch from contacts to glasses it takes me about an hour to adjust to the difference so I suggest trying it for a few hours while you are at home.

And if you are having trouble with dry eyes ask you eye doctor about different kinds I have H2O optics that are made for people with dry eyes and I wear them for few weeks and then wear my glasses for few weeks.

Personally I could not see myself wearing them but I think its better to be comfortable then avoid glasses.

I feel like you should look like the best version of YOU. If YOU wear glasses and that's what you look like, wear them! They're a part of your face! I feel the same about men shaving their beards. If it's a part of your face, keep it!!

I never even thought about NOT wearing my glasses! They're a part of me. I plan on going for a natural look with my makeup since I don't typically even wear makeup. I wore natural makeup and my glasses for my engagement pictures and they look great. I have no worries about glasses ruining my pictures or interfering with my makeup!

My current glasses have transition lenses (FH also has transition lenses). We will both be going to buy new glasses before the wedding WITHOUT transition lenses. We both will wear our glasses, but do not want it to look like we have on sunglasses during our photos - especially any that we take outdoors!
