Wearing engagement ring on wedding day! Yes or No?

I was supposed to get married today but our friend Tropical Storm Laura passed by and we were forced to cancel until tomorrow! My question is, what did you ladies do with your engagement ring on the day of your wedding? Did you leave it at home or just wear it on another finger until you move it...
I was supposed to get married today but our friend Tropical Storm Laura passed by and we were forced to cancel until tomorrow! My question is, what did you ladies do with your engagement ring on the day of your wedding? Did you leave it at home or just wear it on another finger until you move it back once your wedding band is placed!?

Ah ok. Do you know why some would prefer to have the wedding band first on the inside? Is there meaning behind it?

Some women don't have a reason besides doing what everyone else does. There isn't any meaning attached beyond that.

There’s a lot of history and tradition around it, but basically, normally the wedding band (solidifying the marriage - engagement ring is the promise of marriage ) would be worn closest to your heart. However, I am definitely team do what you prefer! I personally plan to wear my engagement ring on my right hand the day of then move it to my left after our ceremony.

My engagement ring is a 3 row ring. So it looks like wedding band, engagement ring, and anniversary band all in one. Im not wearing it before ceremony. Easier for groom to put on my finger lol. Wearing engagement ring on wedding day! Yes or No? 1

I'm getting bands for each side of my engagement ring and I plan to solder them together. I might have this done prior to the wedding so it's just one piece. If not, I'll just be taking my engagement ring off and putting three rings on.

It’s completely personal preference. My wedding band will go first then my engagement ring. I like the feel and look of it better . Also I heard that it puts your wedding band closer to your heart.

There’s no right or wrong order, but I was always told the wedding ring on the inside so it’s closer to your heart. Also, the left ring finger is supposedly the only finger with a blood vein connected directly to the heart.

Here, I thought maybe the practical reason behind the band going on first was the band usually doesn't get removed after the ceremony. However, I constantly worry about snagging my engagement ring and hurting it so I take it off more often to do things like shower/wash dishes/etc. So if it's on the outside, I can still choose to take it off for those harsher activities but leave the band on. Smiley laugh

I came here for this exact question though. My engagement ring and band are made to be a set but I like the idea of having the engagement ring on and then placing the band to complete the set during the ceremony...then switching order afterwards.

I think I'm going to wear it on my right hand then switch it back. I honestly didn't even think of this before seeing this post lol.

On my wedding day I will put it on my right hand and then keep it there. It clashes with my wedding band. It's a family heirloom and no wedding rings I liked went with it at all.

I plan on doing this as well.
I didn't know that so many women actually wore their engagement ring on their right hand during their wedding ceremony. I look at it as that is one of the next steps that we took together in our relationship and it should remain where it is to keep it's meaning and be symbolized during our wedding.
