Wear your dress more than once!

Pan, on May 28, 2012 at 8:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

DH's grandma told me she used to put her wedding gown on every year at their anniversary and keep track of how long she could fit into it. She made it 16 years. I might have to do this. It would be good motivation to maintain my weight. Maybe go a little further and just sit in the house in it on our anniversary(it's soooo pretty) xD

I know someone that "zombie-fied" their wedding dress and her and her husband dress as a zombie bride and groom every year for Halloween.

That makes me think of Blanche from Golden Girls...there was an episode where every year she dieted to make sure she could wear her wedding dress on her wedding anniversary Smiley smile

    MrsOhler that's hilarious!

Pan I love that idea. My dress is still in the bag, waiting to go to the cleaners. I've been tempted to just put it on while doing my chores. Smiley smile

Because my dress is champagne color, and not very "bride" looking, I've thought about wearing it to other fancy functions like ballroom competitions and the symphony. Maybe see if it can be dyed a darker color....

Mrs. Ohler, I know someone who had a zombie wedding! It was pretty cool. Even the officiant got all zombified!

Keli, I kind of wonder if it was something they used to do back in the day.

Kris, Mine is hanging in my closet and I want to wear it all the time. But I must resist! I still don't know if I'm going to bother with sending it to get preserved yet, or just dry clean it and wait until after our vow renewal.

It's funny that you should say that Shellie. I told DH I wanted dye mine and every year we could go to a fancy restaurant where I wouldn't look like a crazy lady if I wore it, but he said no Smiley sad

Shellie I think you could totally wear your dress to fancy functions! If you don't, can I? Smiley smile

If you decide to loan it out, can I borrow it after Kris? ;D

There is no shame in the game, I put mine on a couple of times since we got married. I love my dress and I love looking at it. I hope I have a girl someday so she can wear it or we can use parts of it or something.

Fitting in mine every year shouldn't be a problem. I weigh more than I want to so my goal is for it to be too big for me by the time our anniversary rolls around and I never want to weigh as much as I do now.

I told my husband, 'If I still fit in my dress at our 25th anniversary, we're having a big party so I can wear it again!' At year 14, I'm still good!

My reception dress is just non-traditional enough that I can wear it again. We're going on a cruise for our honeymoon and I plan to bring it :-)

I told my honey a few days after the wedding that I want to put on my dress every year on our anniversary and just wear it in the house and stuff. I'm also bigger than my desired size now (I actually had to put weight back on to keep my dress from falling off), so the dress fitting year after year shouldn't be a problem. I'm hoping to have it altered to a smaller size and wear it for our vow renewal in 10 or 20 years.

I was pregnant for our first anniversary, and will be for our second, so mine didn't fit...but I gave it away a long time ago anyway, so it's a moot point Smiley smile

I'm SOOO doing this! I'm hand-making my dress, sewing & all. Cheaper & it makes it mine. Why not wear it for anniversaries? Course I dont know if I'd wear it just to eat out, but perhaps just prance around the apt for the day, "look at me I'm a bride again" lmao

I have an idea! We should have a Wedding Wire Bridal Ball!!! Where we all get together once a year in a different city (bring our left over decor of course) & wear our dresses!!

And we can even exchange dresses from year to year so we all get something different. Lol just a thought at least Smiley winking
