We forgot about the license

Just came on to tell you all about our most recent fail. We're moving to NE in 3 weeks. We're having a wedding in Florida, and we live in Alabama (for those who don't know already)....and we totally forgot to get our marriage license last time we were in FL together. We didn't plan on being in FL...

Just came on to tell you all about our most recent fail. We're moving to NE in 3 weeks. We're having a wedding in Florida, and we live in Alabama (for those who don't know already)....and we totally forgot to get our marriage license last time we were in FL together. We didn't plan on being in FL together again, on a weekday, before the wedding....until now. I can't believe we forgot....I guess time just really caught up with us and with all of the other craziness, it just slipped our minds.

Fail.

Ha, so many rules! I think I'll just call someone (including my pastor) and get straight answers tomorrow! I'm just mad that we didn't think about it until last night

OK, I'm a wedding officiant in Florida, so here's the scoop:

You can get the license in any Florida county and use it anywhere in the state of Florida.

The 3-day waiting period applies only to Fla. residents who do not take the approved course.

You can pre-fill the application online, but still need to go into that courthouse to show your ID and swear that all the info is correct. Not every county gives you the option of pre-filling the form.

The license is good for 60 days. The license shows "Issue Date" and "Effective Date" (3 days later for Fla. residents) and "Expiration Date." For non-residents or residents who take the course, the Effective Date is the same as the Issue Date.

The license must be returned to the issuing courthouse within 10 days after the wedding.

The courthouse will give or mail you a certified copy.

The license costs approx. $95 (depending on each county's sales tax rate). In Sarasota County, it is $93.50. In Manatee County, it is a little bit less.

If any of you Florida brides have any other questions, shoot me an e-mail thru my WW storefront.

Just had our destination wedding in orlando area a couple of months ago. We got our license on Monday and was issued same day, no waiting for you if you are not a FL resident. Easy!!

Just need your social and IDs. Highly recommend print and fill out application prior and bring cash!
