We decided on Las Vegas!!! but Im trying to see if i can get away with ... advice

Hi!!!! I hope all the brides and grooms are doing really well!!!

So we are planning to have our ceremony at the Flamingo gazebo garden in Vegas, November 2020. It has such beautiful grounds and is exactly what I pictured when saying my "I Do's" ..

BUT the reception is what Im most worried about is the reception -- I had an idea to rent one of the big Julius Caesar's suites for a night or two (depending on the rate that weekend). After the ceremony having a cocktail hour in our suite -- we will just buy bottles of alcohol, possibly get a DJ and have appetizers while we go finish taking our pictures at Red Rock after the ceremony.

That will be like an 1.5 hr with us being gone away from the suite which I was going to put a cousin in charge. Im nervous people will be bored but the suite has beautiful views, two stories with tv's, bar area (where guests can self-serve the drinks and appetizers) and a pool table. Once we get back from pictures, we will have our first dance in the middle of the room, have a self-serve buffet for everyone to eat and then cut the cake and do our toasts. We want our guests to stay for a little bit to eat and drink, then relax and get rest because were going out to one of the clubs later that night.

What do you guys think? We thought we would save more money and make it more intimate then renting a venue out for a few hours to eat and drink vs just doing it in this 2400 sqft suite. I dont want my guests to get bored while we are gone that was why I thought about having a DJ there to keep them occupied...and if we can fit it in the budget I wanted to do a photo booth. Im nervous about if Caesar's will permit this as we would be spending quite a bit on the suite. I spoke with the caterer (Carmine's) and they said the deliver to the hotel all the time so not to worry about it.

I dont know, if im just overthinking or if it will all be fine! Im trying to figure out the logistics since we will take that 1.5 hr break to take our pictures.

Any feedback, suggestions, ideas.. thank you in advance!

I think this sounds fine as long as you don’t have a super large guest list where people will be cramped in the suite.

I live in Vegas. I know that people definitely cater events in strip hotel suites. I don't anticipate a problem. Red Rock is a bit of a drive, then there's setting up at the location. It could take a while, and I'm worried you'll feel more rushed than couples doing their photos on-site. It's a know your crowd thing. If this is a small shindig with family & close friends, I would say it's probably ok.

As an alternative, if you're planning a first look, you could do photos before the ceremony, depending on the time of day you're going for.

No the suite is 2 stories and 2400 sq ft. it will be plenty of room. Our invited list is 100 but we doubt all will show up. They are all close family and friends.

This is nice to know. Yes, our photographer told us all about the drive, etc. We dont want to do a first look as I want him to see me for the first time at the aisle and we made it so that we will leave right after the group/family pictures and maybe one drink in the suite so that we can catch the sunset. I was wondering if the hotel would have an issue with people going up to the rooms, etc.

Its mostly our immediate families and closest friends.

Also, a good point about feeling rushed.. i dont want people calling and being like where are yall but i dont know the alternative. They will be waiting at some point right? And then my fiance suggested doing it the next day but I dont want to have to pay double for make up and getting dressed all over again to pose for pictures after we just did that the day before.. but it could be a thought.

    Also Michelle!,

Do you have any suggestions on bakeries and florists? I found one florist and he was pretty reasonable.. but We haven't really found a bakery yet.

You know, I'm so early in my planning that I don't even have vendors yet! But I've heard nothing but good things about Freed's bakery, and they're the first bakery I'm going to consult with. They're an established Vegas bakery with award winning cakes. They contract with some venues out here. They also list cakes and prices online (very reasonable!), but they'll do custom stuff too if you're wanting something more personalized. Sorry, I'm not familiar with any florists here.

I totally understand not wanting to do a first look. I am considering it due to our timeline, but my first choice would be for us to see each other first at the altar. If you've got a big suite and a lot of people to entertain themselves, I'd say just make sure they're fed and the music is poppin', and go do your beautiful sunset photos at Red Rock! I wouldn't want to get all dressed up to do them on a different day either!
