We are not canceling the wedding (3weeks to go)

Monica, on March 14, 2020 at 1:13 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22

FH is freaking out about the national state of emergency and this viral voice message going around on social media saying how all ppl in the US are gona be quarantined in their house for 4 weeks. (Which we have no clue if this is true or not) He told me maybe we should cancel or postpone. My mom told me we should postpone. My BM is telling me churches are canceling services and maybe they might cancel the wedding too.

Canceling is a solid HELL NO from me.
If people are scared to leave their house and scared to come to the wedding, thats fine they can stay home. I dont care if only 10 ppl show up, we WILL BE MARRIED on April 4th.
This is so crazy yall and so unfortunate. Who would have known 2020 would bring this, and its escalated so quickly. Coronavirus got us messed up.
I made a post on Facebook addressing that while 2020 may be cancelled, the wedding is NOT. For those Who have already RSVPed if your plans have changed due to coronavirus concerns please let us know ASAP. And hopefully this reminds ppl to rsvp! My deadline is today lol.
I haven’t cancelled our honeymoon to Mexico. If some travel ban pops up or mexico starts travel restrictions then we will cancel last minute if we have to. But I would be royally pissed if I cancelled now and then this blows over by the end of april when my trip is booked.

Thank you!! Im not willing to change our plans and to have to go through this all over again at a later date. Those that are closest to us that love us will be there.

I agree with ALL of this. I had a moment when I heard about the church’s s because a lot of public offices are closed as well. It’s a mess and there might be 10 people
There but I’m still going through with it.

Just do you. remember all the planning and everything that has gone into it. Many people are giving us backlash for not cancelling. Those many people have never planned a wedding. You have to be smart but never put aside your morals and values!

Yess! It made me sad because I feel like if things weren’t already hectic, the naive ppl that hear it are going to freak out and things are going to get really crazy. Maybe someone wanted to see just how viral their post would be.

My fb post has ppl wanting to rsvp but they say they are unable to rsvp on the website and their name doesn’t show up. Annoying. I put in Bold letters On the RSVP page that everyone should Search their first name. When they use their full name their name doesn’t pop up

I 100% support you. I hate that I’m feeling backlash for not supporting whole-heartedly this “social-distancing” and cancelling everything to do with my wedding. Our bridal party is behind us and says even if it’s just us they’ll be there. I empathize with people’s concerns but I also feel like this is slightly out of hand.

100% agree with you! We're getting married on April 7th no matter what. We've had almost all of our extended family cancel their trip but that's ok. All that matters is our immediate family is there.
Good for you for standing your ground! Smiley smile

I think someone overheard something at work (maybe even at the pentagon) and decided to tell their friends. It’s a shame people will share something like that without backing it up.

Yes and i wonder if its only related to schools because all schools have shut down. Either way it shouldn’t have been leaked.

A nurse in my family said that if you leave the US, you will be subjected to quarantine for two weeks minimum when you try to come back.

I was like you but in 24-48 hours, we decided to postpone our wedding after all. I’d say we gained mad respect from everyone on this decision. Everyone is so happy to celebrate with us next time. It was surprisingly easy to work with our vendors. Vendors are getting cancellations left and right so they are all rescheduling without extra charge. I’m so glad I have this piece of mind. We are still continuing with City Hall registry on our original wedding date and we are still going on our honeymoon. I guess my point is if you have to postpone, it won’t be the end of the world.
