Waxing or threading which is better?

Vanessa, on April 4, 2017 at 10:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I've been thinking of getting my eyebrow and upper lip waxed or threaded before the wedding but don't know which is less irritating to the skin. I don't do either I've had waxing done before but I had red specks left and it hurt for a while after. I just don't want irritated skin on the big day. Of course I'd try whichever I decide to before the wedding to see how my skin reacts but which would you recommend waxing or threading?

If you get it done get it done a two or 3 days before your wedding... we are wedding twins just in a different year

I have never done threading, but get my eyebrows/lip waxed every 6-12 weeks, it takes about 15 mins, its red for about an hour just depending on the day and then its all better. I would recommend starting now to make sure you don't have a adverse reaction.

Threading hands down. More controlled, less likely to make mistakes. I feel like I get a better shape.

As for pain waxing is a lot of pain for a short duration. Threading is dull pain over a longer time. So that is up to you.

I've done both, and I like waxing better. I go to a salon and they use chocolate wax for sensitive skin. I would highly recommend going once or twice before your wedding

I have done both. Threading gives you a better shape and is more consistent. However, I had an allergic reaction and my face broke out for an entire month. As a result, I do waxing. It irritates my skin for about 1 hr or so. The area becomes red but goes away. Your other options for eyebrows are microblading (beautiful but expensive and semi-permanent process), and Gillette at the barber (they shape it beautifully, very inexpensive, but doesn't last long). There is also laser hair removal for your upper lip. Whatever you do TEST IT NOW.

Are you embarrassed about crying? Ha. I can sit through a quick waxing and be absolutely fine. I did threading once and I had to ask her to stop. I was just pouring a pool of tears out of my eyes.

I dont know what threading is.... but if youve never waxed before... you need to see if you break out...

Both areas will remain puffy 24/48 hrs after... also depending on how fast ur hair grows back plays into that as well...

My hairs grown back quickly so I have to go more often so don't get stuck in the middle of a wax time because it takes them hairs to get length enough before the waxing will work

I prefer threading. The results are far much more precise.

For facial hair/eyebrows I prefer threading, I feel like I get a much better shape. Though I will say I do wax (cold, gel wax) my own eyebrows now because it's more cost effective for me.

Sorry but threading makes me queasy. To see that thread in their mouth. Ew. Waxing is so much better to me.

Threading is better for your skin. Idk how you could be allergic to threading (unless they use some type of lotion or cream after) but my sensitive skin does not react well to most waxes.

Do you have a Benefit bar brow near you? It's part of Ulta.

It's so nice. Doesn't burn. & they are professionals. Trained and licensed.

I would never do threading. Looks too painful.

Helloo first off congratulations! I wouldn't (and haven't in about 5 years once I was burned badly) do wax. It's a little to harsh. Threading looks more natural to me and I feel it is easier to keep up because it's more so based on your natural eyebrow shape.

As far as being red and irritated goes...I'm African American medium skin toned and I am always red the day of and a bit tender the next day. I find that aloe Vera gel really helps with the tenderness but nothing stops the redness. Just get them done say, Monday if you have a weekend wedding so you have plenty of time to heal!

    Good luck Smiley smile

I tried threading for the first time last week. I loved the results but the pain was terrible. Like a million tiny paper cuts. I'm not sure I would be brave enough to do that again.
