Wax or Sugar????

after8years, on March 28, 2009 at 10:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

Ok Im having a nervous moment, My FSIL always gets a bikini wax or sugar not sure which, but she asked if I was going to get that done (it was a long conversation among all us girls) anyway she suggested I try it. Ok my problem is some stranger touching my peek-a-chew. If I'm gonna go for it I want it all gone. But scared shitless is putting it mildly. Has anyone had this done and can you tell me are they going to be touching stuff down there that FH only touches?

I get brazilian bikini waxes faithfully...brazilian = everything!! yes the person who does it will be seeing and touching your ninny...but trust me, she's not getting any joy out of it, and you won't be either because it hurts a little Smiley smile You'll get over the modesty factor quickly enough.

Have you gotten anything waxed before? It does hurt quite a bit...to me it's worth it, but many people I know don't have the pain tolerance for it. I would start with a regular bikini and see how that goes, and if it doesn't bother you, go for a brazilian!

I wax my brows faithfully and have no problems there it just I know its going to hurt like hell Ive read some blogs on it and laughed. My issue is definatly the touching. I shave it all and that just becomes a pain every couple days. My SIL said the first time you have moments of Holly crap, How long does it take? and am I going to be on all fours like a freak for long or what I really have no idea what Im in for and she also said I could do it myself? Holly crap what if I seal something shut ?

    Haha! you're funny...

it hurts a lot more than eyebrows. it's a bigger area and the hair is thicker and more dense. How long will depend on how hairy you are. I'm Italian...it takes a little longer Smiley smile

If you go to someone GOOD, it will be a lot easier than you expect. It will be fast and they'll be all business. It really really is worth it if you hate shaving (like I do). And the more you go, the easier it gets because the hair grows back thinner and less dense.

it is NOT easy doing it yourself...i've done it several times and it takes forever...especially when you're new at it.

Just go for it! If you want to stop part way through because you're uncomfortable...she'll understand. it's worth a try in my opinion. Think of not having to shave your whole honeymoon!

You should see it like this: You have too go to obgyn appts anyway and they look in there and everything why not do it for something thats going too benefit you for your honeymoon. Just make sure you go to a good place with good hygiene.

And for the pain: I went to a passion party not too long ago and they had this numbing cream (topical eaze) they sold (for anal sex) and the lady said that it also is good for waxing, tattoos, and piercings. And i would definitely consider using it. Ive never personally went too get it done but am considering it. And im not sure if they put anything for the pain but just in case they dont. Oh and i would also take some pain relievers like tylenol or advil before hand. The Website for the cream is yourpassionconsultant.com

First off I have to say my favorite part of this post is seeing people's cute names for their privates, haha we should have a separate post asking this! I have done the waxing at home myself and not sure if I did something wrong but ended up with a HORRIBLE reaction! Like I'd been stung by a million bees, looked monstrous! But my hair grows ridiculously fast, I shave in the morning and have stubble by night! I was also feeling so weird about the stranger poking around my naughty bits with hot wax. I tried rationalizing, comparing it to the doctor and all that but I just haven't felt the strength to go into a salon and do it. What I have now done is gotten myself an epilator. It rips the hair out at the root, same as waxing, but with no mess and no sticking to sensitive skin. It is PAINFUL as any hair removal like that will be, but it gets less painful every time I use it and I stay smooth for many weeks. Plus I can easily do touch ups when a stray hair grows in here or there.

It is so funny that this post just came up. Like you, I have always been VERY nervous about this. However, I got a gift card for a spa at my bridal shower, and I just got off the phone with them asking questions and making my first appointment. I am so nervous. Good luck with your decision!

Im going to my SIL tonight and I am going to talk to her some more about this torture.I just read the different types and laughed my butt off there is actually one called "the tiffany box" hahah they leave a little box shape at the top and dye it tiffany blue.Oh my god, now I have to pick one, there is the playboy, the hollywood, brazillian of course, and like a few more and they all have hair left some where except they are saying the playboy even gets the hair from inner edge of peek a chew. Oh my god. I think Im going to do it with some help from Gentalman Jack or old faithful Jose'Does anyone know of good places in Pittsburgh? I'll probly use SIL but in case I sneak to do it I need to know where to go?

I just had this discussion and I am very nervous about having it done...but I heard they might be banning it in PA and NJ because of infections etc.

    Not sure though.

Good Luck...maybe have a few drinks before you go...lol Smiley smile

I've had everything waxed off a couple times and it hurts like hell but after the first few pulls everything goes numb. bring a magazine to distract you while she works.

Omg, Sugar! Only go to someone reccomended! Wax rips off a layer of skin with it and takes longer for the redness to go away.

And when you find someone in Boston who does it, let us all know... I left my person behind in NYC when I moved.

No one else on here uses an epilator? I'm surprised! It has so many benefits over waxing; you can safely use it in the privacy of your own home, no mess, no HOT wax, no irritating the skin, one time only fee to buy it instead of repeated salon visits or buying wax, razors, etc, You can do touch ups any time when stray hairs start growing in, it's easy to use you can't do it wrong, it gets even tiny hairs that are just starting to come out so you don't have to wait for them to get to a certain length and it still lasts as long as waxing since it rips the hair out at the root. I spent a bit more to get a quality one and it was still around only $80, which would be just a couple trips to a salon, but they have them even cheaper than that. Here is the one I got

Wasing is awesome. It took me a while to get up the nerve to go. I have waxed for ten years. I love not shaving. Yes, it hurts, but it is worth it. I have never had any reaction from waxing. You can take motrin thirty minutes before you go for waxing. Personally, I wish I hadn't waited so long in deciding to was and am glad I do it now. Some salons used hard wax for when they do the bikini area and I prefer that.

Oh! Girlfriends who have not gotten a Brazilian HAVE to try it before your wedding night! Yes, it hurts, but personally I think getting my legs waxed is more painful then my vajaja. Waxing anywhere where there is bone, your legs, eyebrows, etc. is always going to be more painful the in the land down under. Honestly, after the first time the pain was totally managable. I mean, come on, we're girls, we are good with dealing with pain! Right? I would suggest a Brazilian over leaving a design, there is no description to the freeing feeling you will get that even shaving everything doesn't give you. Plus, your guy will probably flip for the softness.

You will not be on all four or mounted somewhere, you just lay on your back and have to move your legs around. Trust me, your GYN does much more then an esthetician will.

Honey you will feel like a sexpot, go for it!

For the person asking for a waxer in Boston, I'm sure there are plenty in the city, but if you care to venture out to Canton, MA...I can vouche for Savoy Day Spa and ask for Lani or Olga. They are super quick and professional and do such a good job! I've been to some bad people and it makes it 5x's as painful.

I also find my leg waxings hurt more than bikini.

Laura L. I'm glad you posted the info about the epilator, They sell a couple models at the target where I live, and I have almost bought one about 6 times, but then think "what if it doesn't work, I'm out $70!" and put it back. I will definitely look into it again next time I am there!

It's going to hurt. Take some advil and go to CVS and by a numbing thing (Sally Hansen sells them for their waxing). Even then be prepared. They are going to touch you clinically (like a gynecologist) and they don't even care/notice anymore. Depending on how much hair you have down there will depend how much they will touch you down there. It's totally worth it though. It looks so nice and then you can buy those like see through underwear at Victoria's Secret or something and it looks good! FH will TOTALLY appreciate it! Smiley winking

I'd say go with Sugaring if you can. Sugaring is better for your skin, less ingrown hairs, plucked chicken look, and less chance for reaction. BEST of all... less hair grows back each time. I just had my second sugaring and was AMAZED at how much less hair there was!!!

The first time REALLY hurt, but i popped a pain pill and yelled through it... lol Second time barely hurt at all.

    DO IT!!! You'll LOVE it!!!

Who does sugaring in the DC area? I've been trying to find a place since waxing makes me break out on my face.
