Was your initial budget realistic?

How far over your initial budget did/will your wedding end up being? Mine is somehow within $600 of my initial target but it's not very similar to my first draft. I initially thought I could get a photographer for $500 and a videographer for $200 lol so things had to be cut to make it happen. Did...

Same for me. I thought $5k sounded like a great number. Then I saw how much venues were and I thought we could definitely do it for $7,500. Now I'm gonna be around $10k. No real budget here either, my grandparents know I try to find deals and I think its insane this is already costing $10k so they know I'm being thrifty and not going nuts.

When we started we set a budget for 5k and 2k wiggle room after speaking with one of my married friends who told me about the last minute things. Well 25 days until the big day and i am a little over 11k not included honeymoon or my dress (only thing my dad paid for)

Way over budget... by thousands! Initial estimate was too low, we decided to splurge on some things & DIY costs got out of hand. 🤪 Looking back two years later, we didn’t go into debt (paid it off in a few months) so still worth it. YOLO (we have a house, no kids).

We way underestimated! The food alone is going to be way over our initial total budget. I'm not counting anything that has been gifted to us in the budget either (anything our parents directly paid for). We also compromised a lot on the food we wanted (buffet instead of plated, all one course instead of multiple small plates so we could still get 3 different main dishes and everyone could try them all if they wanted) and were still way over.

We started out with a budget of 10k....The venue, catering, DJ, officiant, and Honeymoon took us right up to the max...
So now, we are hoping to stay at 15k 🙏🤞

If you go with the mainstream professionals online than you’ll pay. I just kept asking around and found people that knew people. There’s a lot of talented people who don’t do it for a living that can give you a reasonable prices. My highest quote for photographer was $2500. My co-workers son is getting married and I ended up using his and she’s charging me only $1000. She took our engagement photos, so we could try her out. I’m pleased so far great experience.

Yes... after just a bit of tweaking.

I had an initial hoped for a $6k budget, but after my husband said what he wanted, our budget was increased to $11k. We came in at 10k and some change.
