Want to try on my dress for fun!

Gbees4121, on June 16, 2021 at 4:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25
Anyone else have their dress and just want to try it on at home for fun randomly? Just wondering if anyone else feels this way Smiley smile

I bought my dress last June off the rack, so it's been in my closet for a while, yet I've only ever tried it on once again since then. I constantly have the urge to put it on and wear it again just for fun! 🥰

I tried mine on about a handful of times prior to alterations. I think it was because I couldn’t see it being my dress until after it had been altered

What’s stopping you from putting the dress on?

Lol I also did. I put on my shoes and hair pins and earrings and walked around the house in it while my partner was out playing golf. Until I realised I was sweeping up all the dust on our floor with my train, oops! I've only put it on in the spare room on the carpet once or twice since, where I'm less likely to do any dusting with it!

My auntie in law (to be) told me you shouldn't put it on at all except for fittings until the wedding day - and it's a sensible plan. Firstly because it really doesn't look like it will be on the day until it's fitted to you and has all the layers underneath etc, and secondly because of course you don't get the emotional high of the day you bought it when you put it back on, so it's a bit of a let down every time.

Still. I enjoyed the opportunity to try it on and just marinate in it for a bit, even knowing those things. It's off at the alterations place now, so I can't try it again even if I wanted to!

I absolutely did. It's a great way to feel out how things fit and assess what alterations you need before your fittings. Additionally, if you still need to accessorize, it's a great time to try everything together and see how it all looks.

Every now and then I will try my dress on. I bought my dress January of last year for my wedding and unfortunately had to postpone to October of this year. Every few months I will randomly try my dress on, I haven't in about 3-4 months though.

My dresses are at my MOH's house and she's like 40 min away from us, and I've only been over there once since March when I bought them, but I put them back on when I was there, and I want to put them back on Saturday when I visit her this weekend!

It's just so fun to put it back on!!

Good question!! A few things: 1) I don't really have a good mirror in my house to see it, since my dress is quite large! 2) I'm also worried my FH will see me accidentally (since we live together and are cooped up from covid)! and 3) I don't know what I would do! Sit and watch TV? Dance? Trip over it because it's way too long (lol)! But you asking this question made me realize that my reasonings are silly!

Lol! I hadn't considered the train sweeping everything up, but that's funny! It's probably for the best it's off to alterations now. Mine is coming up soon, so I want to try it on again before I go! I definitely see what she's saying. I wish I had a giant mirror like the bridal salons with the perfect lighting Smiley smile

That's very practical and I love it!! I am definitely struggling to envision any accessories or even my hair, so that will be a perfect reason to try it on again! Smiley smile

I guess deep down I'm nervous that I'll HATE it randomly, but you've convinced me! I just hope my cat doesn't try to snag it this time!

Oh I hope it's still as fun trying it on every time, even though it's been waiting longer than you've expected for the big day! When is your new wedding date?
