In general, I won't support the employment practices of a shitastic company, no matter how incredible their prices are or how good their cakes taste. Simply on principal.

Costco makes incredible cakes. AND they are a great company!

Check Craigslist and small groups on facebook. You can find small bakeries, start ups, individuals who will give you a good price and will work with your budget. Also look into naked cakes, they're totally trendy right now and seem really difficult to screw up. They're perfect for a fall wedding!

We did a dessert table. We got our cakes at the local grocery for $8 a piece. They were light and moist and tasted delicious. They were also pretty and very presentable.

I got a two tier cake and 124 cupcakes from Walmart for about $110. The cake was beautiful and it tasted delicious. All night the guests raved about how much they loved the cake. Few could believe it came from Walmart. I was and still am very happy with my decision to get my cake at Walmart.
