Walking Down the Non-existent Aisle????

Jessica, on May 10, 2019 at 6:10 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9

So we are getting married in 127 days and is going to be a standing ceremony, with some chairs for the older people (they'd be sitting up front). I need ideas for how my fiance and I would walk to the ceremony area. I mean, we know HOW to walk... one foot in front of the other (haha) and seems like such a logical thing. Just walk from point A to point B...but there is no aisle. There is a place to hide out, but it's pretty far back. Should we walk together? Should we walk around the outside of everyone gathered and meet where the officiant would be? I don't know.. thoughts? this shouldn't be so stressful!

Have there been other weddings at your venue? If so, you could ask the coordinator about what past brides have done or their thoughts!

The only wedding that I know of was my Fiance's Aunt. I'm sure that can't have been the ONLY wedding...It's a pretty hands-off place actually. They just hand you the keys and wish you good luck, be mindful, and don't destroy anything lol.

What’s the venue like? Can you create an “aisle” with something like garland or candles or petals or a runner? Ours was at the beach but we had seats so that made the makeshift aisle. My husband walked down first, and then I came later. Perhaps a friend, or even officiant could announce to people before that to separate and create an aisle.

    Hi there Jessica!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley smile

Great advice from the previous posters!

Would you consider making a makeshift aisle with something? As plangalCG mentioned, candles, petals or a banner? This could be a great option to give the standing ceremony and like structure so people know where to stand and where not to stand!

Here are some inspo pics from Pinterest. The one with the flowers, just imagine the chairs are not there!

If the hideout place is a pretty far back, you could start it a couple of yards down from that and have that as the entry point.

In relation to how you and your FS walk, I think this is completely up to you. Your FS could go out earlier and be at the top of the ‘aisle’ and you could walk through the crowd up the ‘aisle’. Alternatively, you could both walk up together through the crowd.

Do you think some of these options would work with your venue and wedding size? How many guests will there be?

I've been toying with the idea of getting an aisle runner, but I'm just not sure. I was pretty sold on it until my fiance mentioned just making an aisle out of petals. Then I was like..."huh, that could be more economical if we get the ones from the Dollar Tree..." The possibility to create one is there, I just have to make a decision and stick with it!

    Thanks for the ideas!

I like the top one with the petals. That does look pretty neat! We even have the arch!

If you have the arch, I think using the petals as an aisle would work awesome and give the space some structure. It will guide people where to stand and face (and most importantly, where not to stand!).

Hey Jessica, have you worked out how to make your aisle to walk down? I went to one standing ceremony once and the wedding planner came through just before the ceremony and cleared people to create an aisle. She personally was very mean about it, lol, but I'm sure a venue coordinator or wedding planner or usher could help with this. Another idea is to use an aisle runner!

The aisle runner was the first idea we had and I scrapped it but we do have some tables that we are going to angle to create an aisle. I'm thinking we are going to have his mom act as an usher and kinda let people know when we are coming and have them part for us. My flower girl should be dropping some flower petals (if she doesn't get stage fright), and that will give the semblance of an isle (I hope).
