Walking down the aisle

Josie, on February 12, 2020 at 11:40 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
I used to tell my uncle (like 3 years ago) I wanted him to walk me down the aisle, but I dont want him to anymore. I want my best friends dad to walk me as we are really close and he has been there for me many times. My uncle and I have not spoken beyond holidays for about 2 years. Can I just assume he doeant remember and just dont bring the topic of walking down the aisle up or ?? I still want to do a "father daughter dance" with my uncle though

I would lead with honesty and tell him you would like to have a dance with him at your wedding- good news first Smiley smile

Then let him know you have asked your friend's dad to walk you down the aisle.

Hopefully he will understand and just be excited to be part of your big day!

Just a thought: my best friend has a dad and step-dad that she has close bonds with. She had her step dad start out with her for the entrance and halfway through her dad stepped in to walk her down the rest of the way to the altar. Just in case you decide you wanted both. She completed two separate dances with them as well.

Or they could both walk you the whole way! my cousin had her step dad and dad walk her down the aisle. it's really whatever you want. if you are sure you don't want him to walk you - just ask him to do the dance with you. If he asks about the ceremony then be honest.

Hey Josie. I agree with Neeva's advice. Be upfront and honest, explaining that you want this man to walk you down the aisle, however, you would love to do a 'father-daughter' dance with him. I'm sure he will be supportive of your choice Smiley smile
