Walking down the aisle Advice, suggestions, Help!!!

Michelle , on August 22, 2013 at 4:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

So, I am very much an "off -beat" bride and my groom is the "off-beat" groom. We are anything but traditional.....As of right now it seems our ceremony song will be "Entombed" from the Deftones (just to give an insight) Here is my dilemma:

I was tooling around with either walking down the aisle by myself or with my brother, I was also trying to figure out how to work in where my groom (Jeremy) comes to get me midway down the aisle. I do not want it to look awkward or confusing, but I love the idea of coming down the aisle and him meeting me half way. I would like to keep the element of surprise, so he is not going to see me before the wedding and I want to see the look on his face when he sees me coming down the aisle for the first time( ok so there is some tradition). Does anyone have any ideas or insight on how to make this work or where I can see some videos for this.

Your wedding is more than a year away ... Take a deep breath. Listen to the song a few times, envision yourself walking down the aisle and it will come naturally to you.

I'm getting married in September and my groom will be meeting me half way. My father wanted to officiate he is a pastor and I wanted him to walk me dwn the isle so we compromised. My father and I will pause, he will step back, and my groom will take his place beside me. Then we will continue the rest of the way forward as my father goes back dwn the way we (father and I) had originally came. My father will enter from the side and we (my groom and I) will meet him at the front! We are walking to "Thousand Years pt 2" by Christina Perry. I have seen several weddings where the groom meets his bride halfway and it does work! Good Luck!

I think it would be nice that you and your brother walk down the aisle together. Your brother might feel "extra" honored to do that with you.

I also toyed with the idea of walking down the aisle by myself or have my brother walk me down... my Dad finally got his act together and now I'm letting him walk me down the aisle.

If you're planning to do it solo, have your groom meet your half way and you both walk down the last few steps together. I think that looks cute too. =)

I saw a 4 weddings episode where one of the brides did this.

Her dad walked her before the aisle then she walked herself and her groom met her in the aisle and they did the last bit together.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!!! I absolutely love the idea of having my brother walk me down, taking a step back then going back the way he came and around to the front (My fiance also wants him in the wedding party) thank you so much LaShandra!! I was thinking of having the guys and girls walk to 'Thousand years" then I would enter to "Entomed" from Deftones. I also love the acoustic version of "All around me" from Flyleaf!

Jennifer I saw them last year also awesome! Deftones are a bit hard and dark, but fantastic!
