Walk from ceremony to reception

Heather , on September 1, 2018 at 7:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
I wanted the ceremony part outside-if weather permits of course
There is a little park beside our venue I rented a pavillion months ago
Fmil never liked my idea because I didnt get the pavillion that is closest to my venue
The walk is completely flat and really is not far. Maybe about the distance you would park at the walmart and walk to go inside the doors
Fmil is saying now that fhs grandparents might not be able to make the walk to the ceremony and back we should have it insidr the venue
I really wanted it outsidr have already paid for my pavillion and fmil wss there when I did pay and never came up with this reaso. Til now...
Who has had ceremonies that were a bit of a walk? I know ive read some on here and they sounded like a pretty walk in the park to a ceremony
How does this go with guests assuming a wedding is casual? Not expecting ppl to wear heels and tuxes type thing

If the walk is too far for the grandparents can you get a golf cart or something to drive them from the ceremony to reception?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well. Or just have someone drive them from the ceremony to the reception. What may seem like a short walk for you, isn't a short walk for everyone. You have to make your guest's comfort and safety a priority and cater to any disabilities, not just tell them to suck it up and walk.

    A golf cart might work

But all the other ideas my fmil came up witg were outside now they are saying too hot outside too

Maybe rent a couple of wheelchairs and have someone push the grandparents over and back. That way, they have somewhere a little more sturdy than a regular chair to sit in for the ceremony, too.

People have ceremonies outside all summer long. You won't be out there long. Sounds like fmil will use any excuse to have things the way she wants them instead of the way you want them. Have it outside, and enjoy your day!
