Waiting for RSVP's is the hardest thing...

BreeCheez, on February 16, 2015 at 6:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

Who would have thought, out of all the things that needed, planned, decided upon, made, bought or finished.... Waiting on these DAMN RSVP's would be the hardest thing. I've gotten 19 back (out of 80 sent & 6 of those were Bridal Party & 2 more is our mothers...) HURRY up....please? pretty please.... I know this will not get any easier.... Invites went out 2 weeks ago (I know I know I am being impatient, but I cant confirm which caterer we are going to use until I know how many will attend..)

& I'm such a nerd I have a crazy spreadsheet with the % of accepted, Declined, unknown... I'm an Inventory Analyst & so I look at these #'s like craxy & they are driving me nuts!!!

26% ACCEPTED 4% DECLINE 70% UNKNOWN

I am with you. Our deadline is this Friday and we are still missing about half our RSVPs. My favorite part is just getting the mail! I went to dinner with one of my friends and she tried to hand it to me. I told her that there is a stamp for a reason and that I like getting mail! She laughed and said she'd drop it. lol! I'm curious to know our final numbers too. I also want to start my seating chart!

@ Vanessa, I had someone who came down from SC (to south GA) for ab-day party & tell me they were going to "save postage" & give back my RSVP... I tried to explain the postage was already paid... funny thing is they gave me a card saying congrats & all & no RSVP. I have to assume this means they arent coming... but they made sucha huge deal out of bringing it to me.. & didnt bring it..lol.. I love seeing them in the mail too. I am glad now I didnt skip them as originally planned.

I'm just gonna prep you because people told me and I thought MY family and friends would be different... nu uh! haha! We sent 40 invites and I got 20 RSVPs back and our deadline was 1.5 weeks ago. I had to call, text, call and text again certain people. And people will say they are coming all year and then last minute RSVP no. Its kinda disheartening but everyone says it happens. I am like you... spreadsheets and all so seeing the numbers sucks! I'd go ahead and take a Xanax bc I needed one right around our deadline lol!

Yes this home stretch is starting to get very stressful!! Lol! I'm good with my caterer & I don't need a final count until 3 days prior. However, I sent out about 110 invites totaling about 225 & I'm chomping at the bit to get my seating chart & place cards done!! At the same time hoping for at least 10% decline!! Lol! Of course it's okay if everyone makes it but not so bad if a bunch decline! I must sound horrible!! Oh & FI came home today & said he forgot to include one more co-worker!! I think a glass of wine would help! :-)

Haha how awesome are wedding spreadsheets?! I couldn't live without mine. I have about 15 tabs on it, it's so good! I've received about half my RSVP's back, and I sent them out BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I've also only invited 68 people, so at this stage I'll be having a pretty small wedding (which is fine with me!). Seriously, how hard is it to drop something in the post box?

Also, my nana sent back her RSVP postcard (that includes a stamp) in a stamped envelope... good ol' Nana! Hahaha

I am a week later then a couple of the brides who posted and we chose to do our RSVP's by email and phone. I wish we would have been able to do by mail, but needed to find ways to reduce our wedding budget.

I would absolutely agree about the waiting and loving the spreadsheet-my fiance is the expert with the spreadsheets. I find myself logging onto our mine and my fiances email at least a couple of times a day hoping we would get another RSVP. I don't think I ever considered sending rsvps right of way when I attended weddings in the past, but now that I am going through the experience, in the future I will be the first one to RSVP to a wedding.

LOL Bree. You sound like my FH. He is a demon with excel and spreadsheets. He has been a TA and precepted for 2 professors and OMG how organized he was. Guess I'll let him handle the invite list.

@Future Mrs Gee I'm glad to see I wasn't too crazy setting my deadline for RSVP (one week before you & our weddings are one week apart) lol...

@FutureMrs.PC we went to my FH great Aunt's 93 B-day dinner & he tells me as we are walking out he told 4-- FOUR different sets of people their invites were at home... Come one babe!!! I wish I had caught him since we are 60 over invited... & he adds 6 more people...I love you dear, but just because we see them 2-3 times a year, So today I am mailing out the 4 additional invites. I told him to PLEASE NOT add anymore people.. as it is I am hoping pretty much all our Out of State guest decline (which is sadly all my family) just so we can fit everyone...

I love excel, I pretty much have my entire life worked into spreadsheets...lol

PS. something to think about. My FH's side had a bunch who claimed to rsvp but we didnt receive... turns out all the crazy winter weather had delayed some of the mail by 12 DAYS!!! Wish I'd known about that before I stressed out! Smiley smile

@ Lucy I think youa re okay with that send out date (b/c they say 8 weeks) but about 50% of the guest list is Out of town & Out of state (we aren't having a DW but it is about 1.5-2 hours for about 30% of everyone & then about %0% of the guests are not even in GA @ all, so I wanted to send out a bit before the 8 week mark)

Mine have been out about 2 weeks, still about 2 more to go. Only about 20% returned. UGH the wait is making me crazy. Hoping they start really showing up this week.

We sent our invitations out over a week ago and so far only 2 people have RSVP'd. We chose to allow them to RSVP by phone or online via our website. My anxiety is at an all time high now.

Your spreadsheet sounds awesome. I LOVE data like that. I'm so excited to get mine in the mail and start getting responses so I can update my spreadsheet. I'm planning to get mine out at the beginning of March. Just got my invites last night, tonight one of my bridesmaids is coming over to help me start assembling them.
