Waiting before the honeymoon?

While logistically, it makes sense (time to breathe after the wedding, opening gifts, visit with out of town family, etc), I have a hard time imagining going to work for a week before taking off to the Caribbean... we already planned to wait until Monday to have Sunday as a "breather" day. What are your thoughts? I'd love your input!

I wish we could have waited a day for ours. Unfortunately, because my dad gifted ours to us (which we are forever grateful for!), we are at the mercy of when his vacation plan he goes through has to book. It was either go the day after or wait two months.

We are planning for our honeymoon a few days later. We're getting married Saturday and the cruise we're looking at sails out on Monday. But, my brother and SIL waited a month after the wedding to go on their honeymoon because they got a better deal, but took 2 days off to breathe after the wedding. Do whatever works for you!

If it makes you feel any better, my fiance could not take off work until the end of the month (2 1/2 weeks after our wedding). So I have to go back to work for a LONG while before actually getting a vacation/honeymoon. On the bright side, because we are waiting, we get to go on a LONG 7 day cruise and be gone for 10 days!! So there are pros and cons to both.

We are planning on leaving the next day for our honeymoon. So we won't get a whole lot of "breather" time in between wedding and honeymoon departure but we don't mind!

I’m on board with one or two breather days for sure - no one wants to party til midnight and then get up at 4 to fly to Aruba - but I agree with you, going “back to normal” for just a week would be so weird! Having a couple breather day’s also means packing your suitcase isn’t one of the thousand things you’ll be doing the day before the wedding.

Our wedding was on a Sunday and we left Tuesday for our honeymoon. Just having one day was amazing because we got to sleep in and relax for most of the day and then waited to do our packing that afternoon.

We will probably do a mini moon Atlantic City or Poconos and go on our honeymoon at a later date.

Our wedding is Sunday and we will be taking off on Tuesday, thats enough waiting for us. Cancun is where we will unwind and take our breather, lol!! There's no way that I'll be going to work while I wait for our honeymoon.

That's awesome Lauren! It sounds like it will be worth the wait! Where are you two cruising to?

Jamaica, Grand Caymans, and Cozumel Mexico! We have booked some pretty amazing excursions as well! I have never cruised (my fiance has cruised before) so I can't wait to share the experience with him!! : )

Our wedding is Saturday and we’ll be leaving on our cruise Sunday. I’m like you - I couldn’t stand the thought of going to work right after I get married for a week and then leaving. I will be taking about 10 days off in a row!

It's really up to what you want. You could always ask someone to take everything home for you then you can go on your honeymoon. I know for myself and my soon to be husband our time for the honeymoon was limited so we plan on taking off right away and dealing with the aftermath when we get back

Carnival cruise line! We are going on one of the newer ships! We did the dolphin swim with the baby turtles, Snuba (cross between scuba and snorkeling) which I am a little nervous about, and then Xcaret park in Cozumel!

Def not! I’m a RN, I work 12 hour nights so trying to work and then catch flight afterwards 🙅🏽‍♀️ my PTO is pretty flexible so it would be no problem for me to take off however long my PTO allows

We live out of state from most of our friends/family in VA and our wedding is in Va so we decided to wait two weeks for a few reasons: won’t have to prepare for our wedding weekend and honeymoon at the same time. The flights were cheaper on those dates. We are flying out of an airport about an hour from our house and 3 hours from VA.

I had originally wanted to leave right after but I’m happy we are doing it this way. Our wedding is on a Saturday and we are taking Monday off from our jobs too.

Not sure, yet. Likely Jamaica or Belize.
