Waiting before the honeymoon?

Victoria, on January 21, 2019 at 11:16 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 84

I had some friends recommend waiting a week to go on the honeymoon for things to calm down. While logistically, it makes sense (time to breathe after the wedding, opening gifts, visit with out of town family, etc), I have a hard time imagining going to work for a week before taking off to the Caribbean... we already planned to wait until Monday to have Sunday as a "breather" day. What are your thoughts? I'd love your input!

Same! Our wedding is Saturday so we are leaving Monday for our honeymoon. It gives us time to head home and put cards/gifts at the house.

I would absolutely love to take off Sunday evening or Monday morning for our honeymoon, but we're getting married the weekend before Thanksgiving, so we will be waiting until the following weekend to leave. I say if it works out for you as far as time off from work, I would leave a day or two after the wedding. It's going to be really difficult for us to head back to work for a week instead of spending a week alone together in wedded bliss.

We're going on our honeymoon right after our wedding haha, honestly it's easier for us that way with the way things are planning out

We are waiting two weeks! We have a lot of family coming in from out of town so we will spend a majority of sunday with them. Plus packing for a 15 day trip in the middle of wedding crunch time gives me severe anxiety. yikes. Ideally id love to jump on a plane and just go, but im sure me two weeks back to work will fly and will allow me to get things in order before i take off.

We took a breather day. I thought that was perfect time. I wouldn't want to go back to work for a week then go on my honeymoon. Nothing would have gotten done.

I'm getting married on a Sunday and we're taking the following day off, but then we're back to work because it's busy season for FH and I'll be at teacher, and I think it'd be rude to leave my kids too long right before standardized exams. We are looking at delaying our honeymoon to late May/early June.

We’re taking a breather day - our wedding is on a Sunday and we’ll be leaving for the Dominican Republic that Tuesday! I’m sure going back to work that week wouldn’t be enjoyable or productive.

We chose not to wait, mainly because my FH is a retail manager and it's easier for him to take time off all in one stretch. Our wedding is on a Saturday and we'll be heading out for our cruise on Sunday morning.

We have to wait until September because that's when the cruise we wanted is sailing. Our wedding is June 1 so it will be a few months of having something to look forward to while also having time to get settled into married life. I wouldn't have minded a cruise right after the wedding though

We're planning on doing a mini-moon right after the wedding so we don't have to go back to work immediately but also won't be gone very long (only 3-4 days). We'll probably leave the Monday after our wedding (wedding is on a Saturday) so that we have the day after to spend more time with relatives from out of town and pack and whatnot. Real honeymoon will be a few months after.

We’re going on our honeymoon the following month. We originally planned on the Monday after our Saturday wedding but long story short, my favorite band announced a final tour and I decided to go to four of the shows.. the week after the wedding.
I’m actually looking forward to going back to work for awhile before the honeymoon so I’m not totally overwhelmed catching up from being away for two weeks.

Getting married on a Saturday and leaving for our honeymoon mid Monday. I do not want to go back to work in between, but wanted one day to just chill (sunday)

We are getting married on a Saturday but not leaving for our honeymoon until the following Friday. That's mainly because we will have his daughter and we'd rather have her for our week then head out. We will both be going back to work Monday-Thursday..

I originally thought taking the honeymoon a week later would be nice to allow things to wind down (and we actually booked it that way!) and then as I thought about it more I realized how much I wouldn’t want to go back to work that week! I almost feel like allowing things to wind down would sort of allow the novelty to wear off? Idk, I love the idea of being able to push work out of my mind and stay in my wedding bubble for a couple weeks. I think I will actually feel more relaxed at my wedding knowing that I don’t have to go to work in the next few days lol. We are now doing exactly what you said... taking Monday as a “breather day” and we’re leaving for our honeymoon on Tuesday!

Of course, if logistically or with finances some people can’t take their honeymoons right away that makes sense and those will still be lovely, and there could be a benefit to letting things calm down before going on a trip. But at least for me I felt like we were lucky enough to have the option to take time off right after the wedding so I wanted to take advantage of that!

We’ve decided to wait 2-3 days. That way we don’t have to go back to work but have a few ways to rest, visit and pack. I would not want to go back to work!!! We get married on Sunday and leave Wednesday.

We'll be waiting a couple of weeks between wedding and honeymoon. FH and I aren't living together before the wedding, so we'll use those couple of weeks to get settled in together and decompress from the wedding. I'm a teacher and we're getting married in summer, so at least I won't have to worry about going back to work!
