Vow renewal - shower gift ideas?

Showers usually aren't done for renewals. But if they want to host one, then have fun. Bed Bath and Beyond has a registry list on their website that you use as a guideline.

You can register for upgrades. We're at 3.5 years and we already need new towels because the ends are coming out of some of them. If there's an appliance you've been looking at, but not wanting to splurge on (InstantPot, air fryer, etc) you could put that on. We included board games and other "activity" things that we can do together.

And remember that you (usually) get a fulfillment discount after your event We used it to finish the dishes set and get a couple of other things (you don't have to get everything on the list). Should have gotten the vacuum cleaner though. Oh well. Live and learn. Sigh.

Happy 10 year anniversary! I think upgraded appliances as mentioned above are a great idea and there are some sites where you can register for date nights.

Ordinarily, a shower gift is in addition to a larger wedding gift. What will you be telling people? That people do not usually give a big gift at all for renewals, so this gift will be the one and only gift expected? Or that this is like an original wedding? Both gifts expected? A shower gift and an anniversary gift?

Added - I am not opposed. Other people I know have done this calling it a shower for those who want their anniversary gifts opened by the bride at the party. Leaving unspoken, others it is assumed will send anniversary gifts. But 2 gifts are rare at anniversaries, and you need to be clear.

View Quoted Comment Where I live, a 3 yr vow renewal or anniversary, would not get gifts, but 10 year certainly does, a significant gift not a token. But people would look funny at the, idea of two gifts, and many like the little party to see them opened. But it is a rural area.
