Vistaprint vs Zazzle vs Shutterfly vs Minted

Sully, on October 8, 2018 at 1:16 PM Posted in Planning 1 22

I'm sure this conversation has been had several times, but I couldn't find something super recent discussing all four of these. I am trying to keep the cost of the invites down as low as possible since I am over budget on basically everything. However, I want the invitations to be nice and not cheap looking. Minted seems to be the most expensive and similar to getting it done through an invitation company in person and Vistaprint seems to be the cheapest, but I am having a hard time choosing between these four. Anyone know what the best sales for each site is and if I should wait to see if something better comes along? How often are the sales for each site? Anyone recommend one over the other?

Thanks!

This is a very good question because I am having the same issue. I have found very nice invites from Vista print though and they dont look cheap. However, i am going to wait to hear somw of the other responses.

In my experience Vistaprint will have the better deals by far, especially around the holidays (usually 50% off the entire site). Minted does offer very nice options but it comes with a higher price, and the best sale I've ever seen on Minted is 15% or 25% off.

We ordered our save the dates from Vistaprint on sale, they were really good quality paper, did the job, and Vistaprint made it easy. Vistaprint is also a little more customization as far as fonts, moving things around, adding photos etc.

We ordered our actual invites from Minted because I like the design best, I liked the layout the best, and I had $50 off my purchase since our premium wedding website was also on Minted.

I did not use any of the other sites listed.

At the end of the day, it all goes in the trash. Spend what your comfortable spending, but guests really look at it for 2 minutes and then put it away until the wedding day when they need to remember where the wedding is at!

I've used Minted, Shutterfly and Zazzle. We got our Save the Dates from Zazzle, I really like them! The quality is great, and you can upgrade your paper quality or texture. I think ours look beautiful!

We used Vistaprint for our save the dates and for our invites. They run 50% off sale pretty often, I'd say every 6-8 weeks it seems. With the holidays coming up they may run them more often or for longer periods of time. Your best bet for Vistaprint, or any of the others, would be to get on their email list and they will email you when they are having sales.

We chose Vistaprint because we found our save the date there in their designs and absolutely loved it, and loved that we were able to tweak it a bit more to our style - changing fonts, moving stuff around, etc. We did not upgrade the paper, and it was excellent quality. For our invites we searched around for something we liked and landed back at Vistaprint. Again did not upgrade the paper and they came out beautifully. Customer service was top notch too because I had ordered security printing inside our envelopes with our date on them, and gave them the wrong date. They happily replaced them at no cost to us, which they didn't have to do. We had another issue too where they forgot the RSVP cards when we placed an order for extra invitations. We had them by the end of the week.

So I can't speak for any of the other sites you mentioned, but we have been very, very happy with Vistaprint throughout the process.

I am using Shutterfly. You can get 5 free samples (with free shipping) and you can also get 5 free personalized samples with your exact names and pictures to try out. They also frequently have sales and you get a 40% off coupon with your free samples!

I used Shutterfly for our STDs, and I didn’t love it. The quality was okay, but it was hard/ not possible to customize things. Also, they put their label on the backs, which I didn’t like.

I ordered my shower invites for my mom and I used vistaprint. They are much more customizable and they are low cost- especially with how often they run 40-50% off sales.

I will I’ll be using Vistaprint for our invites as well. I was stuck between two different designs and I actually was able to combine the two. They also have good quality paper.

I personally am going with minted because I am a graphic designer myself and deal with print materials on a daily basis. Their quality is just way higher in my opinion and the designs are things that I really like and would design myself. I am choosing to go with predestined invites based purely on time and minted designs are things that I would be happy to present myself. Minted also has the designer look over everything and send you a final proof before production which is great because they can let you know if the resolution isn’t the best and can help you out a lot if there are changes you want to make to the design.

I would say say shutter fly has the second best quality, they’re nice but I’m not in love with their designs.

I habe used zazzle, they’re okay. If you’re using them I would highly encourage you to spend the extra for nicer paper. Their basic paper isn’t the best. It’s like a glossy piece of card stock. But their print quality is fine.

Vistaprint would be my last choice. Their print quality is a hit or miss sometimes. I have printed with them for work because of the speed of turn around and their quality is just not the best, but they are quick! But again, not the worst option. But if you do chose them you will want to upgrade the paper.

I do have to agree with Bailey, Shutterfly isn’t very customizable and the STDs do have their wedding paper divas logo on the back so that’s a downside

I used Vista print to print our invitations and RSVP's. I loved the quality and look of them. I ordered a free sample of all of their wedding papers before hand so we could choose the paper we wanted. I think when I ordered mine they were only running a 40% off deal and I didn't want to wait and chance not getting any deal. I was very happy with the quality and print.

Now - I did not use any of their designs. I used etsy to design my invitations and rsvp cards. I customized them all I wanted through the etsy vendor. It cost me $15 for the design and pdf and jpg versions of both. I then uploaded the image to vistaprint.

Vista print!! You can find 20% off coupons online too. I designed my invites myself on an app, saved the template and used vistaprint to print them as large post cards. They have options for glossy, or a matte card stock. For std's and invites (100/each) I paid about $50. I could. Not. Bring myself to spend an insane amount on paper... that most guests don't save our really care about anyway... sorry not sorry. I've never saved one, or swooned over the hand written calligraphy...

To me, Vistaprint is cheaper because it looks and feels cheaper. Maybe I am crazy, but I wanted quality and I just didn't get that with what I had ordered from Vistaprint.

We went with All-in-one invites from Minted. I found them to be rather inexpensive, when it came to invitations. The quality was spot on. Having them already addressed when they got to me made them look so much more cohesive. I was really happy with them.

Check out Facebook for 20% off coupon codes.

I used minted. As other PPs mentioned, minted has the best quality out of all the ones you mentioned. Do expect to pay higher prices - for higher quality. We had a coupon for minted and spent close to $600 for 95 invitations.

I used Zazzle for both our invites and save the dates. There was a Groupon for STD so I got 75 of them for $35 with free shipping. Then for my invites and rsvps I had 65% off. Saved a good chunk of change. Good quality I think. I didn’t upgrade, and they’ll be sitting for a good chunk of time so we’ll see how good of quality when it comes time to send them LOL

I signed up for email and they sent out a notification. I have a feeling they’ll do a 65% again near the holidays or for Black Friday. I did get lucky the first time, saved $200 just from that!

I ordered my Save the Date's from Vistaprint and honestly wasn't thrilled with them. They were the cheapest site but the color seemed lighter on the picture, and the formatting seemed off from that of which I confirmed. Good enough for the price, but I also upgraded the paper. Definitely ordering formal Wedding Invites from another site.
