Vistaprint problems...anybody else? Other company recommendations?

Bride2Be2018, on July 5, 2017 at 11:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

We ordered our STDs through vista print and photo below was pre-print. FH made the original pic a little lighter knowing that it would print a LITTLE darker as prints always do. But they came out way darker. FH face is dark and the whole pic kinda looks crappy. The edges of the "Save the Date" part are blurry. When I called them they said the reso was to high and we need to re-do the photo for lower res and then resubmit. It's just not adding up to me, how would lower res result in better quality photo?

On the 20th of the month we will be at the 6 month mark and I still have to get a bunch of these to family in Canada which takes two weeks. Family have been asking about details and I want to get these out. Feeling very frustrated and ready to get the STDs out. I will resubmit to Vistaprint but want a backup in case they come out like crap again. Any other companies out there to recommend?

Actual STD from Vistaprint in comments.

Sorry to hear about your problem! I had a good experience with vistaprint - when I had to reorder due to my mistake, they expedited the package for free.

I do agree needing a lower resolution file does not make sense....I don't know what to tell you there. That is frustrating. The printed and the one above are clearly vary different colors. My friend has used Minted for her christmas cards and always really liked them - I think they are more expensive though, unfortunately.

@ riededo Right?? Like how would making it a lesser quality make the print lighter? I'll check out Minted as a backup. Thank you. i'd rather pay extra and have them do it right. I was not expecting this, because I have heard from a lot of people Vistaprint has done a great job!

    ETA:

@Davitobe thanks I'll check them out also!

I used Minted.com for our STD's and was very happy with them. I actually had a watercolor that my late grandfather had done, scanned and when they printed them, it was just like the original!

I used Vistaprint for our STDs and had a great experience, but didn't do a photo. The only thing I was disappointed with was the packaging when they mailed it, as it came in a damaged envelope that could have easily damaged the STDs although didn't.

Idk if you are interested in this, but I am doing an e- STD that I created on a phone app called "Canvas" . The std can be sent directly to ppls phones. I also used another photo editing app to sharpen the picture. Etc

I did my STDs through zazzle.com and I did my invitations through lemonleafprints.com. I was highly satisfied with both.

Thanks for the advice. Just an update...I called them and requested to speak to a supervisor this time. They said they would reformat from their end and do a quality re-check after it was printed. I will have them an A+ for customer service. Now fingers crossed the quality will be right this time around. If not, I will try one of the above companiesSmiley smile

I feel like you have to lighten the picture, all around, or at least FH's face! For the record it doesn't look AWFUL, but I've had to lighten quite a few pictures to have them properly printed.

Wow, what a difference! I got my STD through wedding paper divas & I absolutely love them! Also, I did have a few issues with the delivery (UPS) & wedding paper divas took care of the of it right away. I highly recommend them.

Use zazzle. They were quick and their quality for my invites were sooooo much better than my vistaprint std's.

I used Wedding Paper Divas for my STD. I waited until they had a 40% off code. Very reasonable. I went with Minted for invitations and waited until they have a 15% off code. I rarely see them offer more than that.

We did our own at our local Walgreens kiosk. Limited backgrounds but they came out great and at 40% off paid 22 bucks for 50. Ready in one hour.

Wedding Paper Divas has excellent customer service. They respond within 24 hours. I'm actually part of their "WPD voice" panel. Lol... I always have an opinion.

Also, WPD usually has a great deal on Groupon. For our invitation suite, I purchased $500 for $250.

@FutureMrsD those look great! Are they magnets? I guess I didn't specify on my original post that ours are magnets.
