Vintage/antique/estate Rings - who else has one?

No offense to anyone who has a new ring, but we could not find one single new style ring we liked. Can’t stand the halo style in particular which seems to be all the popular rage. We kept gravitating to estate pieces and landed on a beautiful platinum ring, transitional round cut, .75 ct, made in circa 1940. I love its character and elegance. 😍

Who’s with me in terms of having an antique engagement ring? Let’s see what you have!! 💍

I loved the look of vintage, but no one in my family has a ring that would be suitable to be passed down. MIL was willing to give hers, but since she was freshly divorced, it felt...weird. Plus it wasn't my style anyway. My husband also wanted my ring to be MINE, so he didn't want to go true vintage/estate sale/etc. I loved the intricate details of the setting (the sides, which you can't really see in this view, are my favorite part)

No Halo for me either!Vintage/antique/estate Rings - who else has one? 1

My great great grandmother was married in 1901. The center diamond was hers, and my fiance had it reset into a Simon G setting. Simon G has lots of vintage looking rings. I love it, and it's super meaningful to me!

I’m glad you like it and my point was not to offend anyone with this style, but rather to connect with others who like old rings better than new. ☺️

I'm there with you! What I love about antique and vintage rings is that they don't look mass-produced, and are timeless. In 20 to 30 years time people will be able to date when people got engaged if you're wearing a ring that was popular at the time, for example, the Halo ring. It's like with the marquise cut diamond in the 80s, a popular and distinctive style from that period. Trust me, My First engagement ring was an emerald cut diamond with Halo, and Baggott going down the shank. Within a week I sent it back because everywhere I looked Women had halo rings. I didn't feel it expressed the uniqueness of our relationship.

My fiancé and I wanted a timeless ring, so we designed our own, sourcing 19th century, hand-cut Old European Cut diamonds to set into a delicate platinum setting ( Similar to a crossover engagement ring found in the Victorian times). Our design lets loads of light in and makes the stones to really sparkle. we designed it to look like a galaxy so that the diamonds look like they were floating on my finger.

It is all a matter of opinion, but we as designers wanted a truly unique ring, rather than one that looked made up from popular design elements that were available in-store. with vintage and antique rings, you get a level of individuality and uniqueness that is a struggle to reach with contemporary rings. Smiley diamond

Pleasure! I am a detail-oriented geek, and love period detailing - things that help one date "what time in the history of the world' kinda thing. Used to be a period costume designer, for my sins!
