Viennese/Dessert Table

Bethie, on August 3, 2015 at 9:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Anyone else looking to do a Viennese table at their wedding??? We are planning on having one. Do you guys have any dessert suggestions? So far on the list, I have airplane shaped cookies annnnd that's it. I'm thinking I want individual desserts with wrappers or things that can be plated with tongs to keep the fingering to a minimum, haha. I should mention that I'm having a wedding cake as well as candy buffet in addition so basically my guests aren't allowed to leave until they've achieved diabetic coma.

Me me me! We're actually transforming the cocktail hour into a dessert and bar lounge area. We decided to go with all of our favorite comfort desserts. We're having 3 chocolate fountains, brownies, eclairs, 3 different warm cookies, mini pies, ice cream with bananas foster or cherry sauce [or you could make ice cream cookies Smiley winking ], 3 choices of warm donuts, hot beverage station with cappuccinos, hot chocolate, hot apple cider and butterbeer) and of course, the cake. We will also have carts to roll our guests out xD lol ETA: Oh! And wrapped caramel apples.

I went to one wedding with one and my friends and I talk about how amazing it was all the time. I think they just celebrated 8 years in July and we've been talking about that Viennese table ever since. They had a tiny white cake for cutting and the rest was a room full of every dessert imaginable. Best wedding dessert experience EVER.

@Butterfly Kisses - Holy smokes!!! I'm gonna come crash your wedding! Hahaha. A chocolate fountain is a great idea! I could maybe get a tabletop one to add some height and diversity to the table.

We are having one, although I didn't realize that's what it was called! We got a small cake for cutting and our cake topper and our bakery also offers mannnny desserts - we ordered chocolate eclairs, cinnamon twists, cheesecake bites, chocolate covered strawberries, and mini cupcakes! Phew! I'm going to put out little bakery boxes so guests can take home treats! The quantity is roughly 4 mini desserts per guest, since we will also be serving cake.

Viennese Sweet Table is always a big hit at our receptions. We have options for mini desserts and full size cakes, sliced to order. I would recommend doing mostly mini desserts as they are more fun and easier for your guests to handle. A lot of people skip the full size cakes as they feel eating a slice is too much vs. eating a bite size piece (or several lol). Seasonal berries and fruit are also popular.

Ok, this is the first I've heard of something like this and I'm actually falling in love with this idea! Anyone care to share what they paid?

We will also be having one, but we haven't discussed it with our venue yet to see what they can offer (since they don't allow outside vendors to bring in food) .

Never heard of this word before. Sound awesome. To avoid the fingers touching everything, they sell small dishes that each person can get one... can't think of the name!

@Chelsea - definitely check with your venue! We are having our reception at a full-service hotel but they allow for dessert tables, candy bars and obviously cake to be brought in since those items are not items they are able to provide.
