Did you all have videography? Is it a want or need for you? Did you wish you had made room for it? Tell me all your opinions!

I got it and I love that I did ! Because I watch it more than look thru my photos to be honest

I opted against it, because other than you and FH who else is going to view it time and time again. You may watch it once or twice in a lifetime and if that's the case, is it worth the cost? We didn't think so.

If I had the extra budget for it I would go for it, but it is not something I would save extra for.

It's definitely at the top of the priority list. Pictures are awesome but there's something about video that you can't recreate.

Plus most wedding tips I've seen online, brides said they wished they had some type of video even if it was an inexpensive go-pro camera or 3 passed around the party.

If we had room in the budget for it I’d get one but I prioritized for an amazing photographer instead of an okay photographer and an okay videographer.

Tbh, I had never intended on hiring a videographer for our wedding. I figured having great photos of the day would be good enough for me. Plus, I didn’t think I would actually sit down and watch our wedding video more than once, so I really couldn’t justify the cost of it. But then I kept reading posts here on WW about brides who severely regretted not having a video of their wedding, and others who did have video commenting on how awesome it was to see all the things they had missed that day. It also occurred to me that some of my family members are advancing in age and won’t be with us forever, and this may be one of the last times everyone is all together, dressed up and celebrating- I decided I would really love to be able to go back and watch actual videos and hear the voices of family members after they had passed. Once I added all those things together, I decided I absolutely had to have a videographer after all.

We originally weren't planning on hiring a videographer, but because of COVID, and having to downsize our guest list, I wanted a nice HD video for us and for our friends and families that couldn't join us in person.

Videography was a high priority for us. Beautiful photos are great, but a picture doesn't portray the sound of your spouse's voice when they read you their vows, or the laughs of your loved ones when you have them all together for probably the only time ever. We love our wedding video and have absolutely no regrets.

We decided on not going with a videographer. We are trying not to spend a lot of money on the wedding so we can buy our forever home. When we started to plan we had asked people who had gotten married what they where so glad they had and what they wished they didn't waste their money on and everyone said they wish they wouldn't have wasted money on a videographer. They said you watch it once or twice and then it gets thrown into a box with a bunch of other things from the wedding that will collect dust.

So happy I was adamant on having a quality videographer! Husband and I watched the videos a number of times when we first received them and we watch again for our anniversary or other romantic holidays. It really truly puts you back in the moment a different way than looking at photos does. Hearing the vows, hearing the toast, watching the special dances and then guests getting down on the dance floor... it’s amazing. 🥰 Plus we were so proud of how all our hard work came together at the wedding, so it’s a treat to watch and say “we did that!”

If you have the budget, get it! But surely spend the timing finding a videographer who suits your style. There’s a very different style of videographer available today (cinematic and emotional) than was the standard decades ago (one wide-angle shot from the back of the room for ceremony with awkward interviews of guests at the reception 😂).

We weren't going to get one. It was at the end of our list for priority honestly. His parents were nice enough to gift us that. I'm a sucker for great pictures though haha.

I am a sucker for great pictures too! I want a videographer, but it will probably be the last thing I book once we see how we are budget wise.

I found a few videographers I like, but the service isn’t cheap. I always love watching wedding videos though. It captures the day in a way photos can’t.

That is another reason I am considering it! At the very least, I want guests who can’t attend to see highlights of our day.

After watching some wedding videos by our videographer It did made me realize that it would be cool having a videographer. That's how we were too about our budget and everything. It was our last thing we would've booked.

It was a pretty high priority for me, this was something I didn't want to not have. Years down the line when looking back, I wanted to see the videos of the dances and hear the emotion in speeches and vows, and maybe even see things that I personally wasn't there to witness. FH was indifferent about it but once we booked the videographer, he also wanted all the raw footage so he would be able to look through it all himself lol.

Sounds like videography is for you! Some videographers offer different tiered packages or the ability to build your own package a la carte. Or may be able to recommend another videographer to you if they are beyond your budget.

Like another person suggested, maybe you can budget and negotiate for the videographer to come day-of the event and then order different edited versions of the footage on your anniversary, giving you some extra time to save. You never know if you don’t ask. 😊

Get in touch with the ones you like and say you love their work and have $x budget to spend so what can they offer you?

My fiance and I originally decided not to hire a videographer, and instead put more money towards pictures. However, since we've postponed to 2022, we're reconsidering the idea of a videographer, and may end up hiring one after all, since we have the extra time to save up cash for one.
