I’m sure everyone knows this already, but videography is so expensive! Trying to stay within a 3k budget for both photos and videos has been a struggle for us. I’m also picky about having to see lots of work before even considering somebody. With that being said we came across a videographer that does amazing work. However the only package that is within our budget is 8 hours of raw footage and a 3 minute highlight video. The next package jumps up by $3k and includes a 50 minute fully edited video, but I’m feeling like I don’t need that. But then again, I don’t know. So that’s why I’m here. What have you all done or what are you planning to do? My thoughts are sort of with raw footage i can edit that later if I wanted (either myself or even pay somebody), but realistically Will I do that? Mmm idk. Will I sit and watch 6 hours of forage ? Maybe one day. Will I sit and watch a 50 minute edited video for an extra $3k more any more times than I would watch the 6 hours of raw? Idk. Lol. Help me sort these thoughts 🙏🏼!

I chose a photographer that had a video guy and it was under $2000. Look for small companies.

We're doing 8 hours, all the raw footage and then a highlight reel.

We spent a good chunk of change on our videographer and our photographer (separate vendors). It was the best money we spent! We have watched all of our videos several times already and plan on making that something we do as part of our yearly wedding anniversaries as well. At the end of the day, videos and photos are all you have left of your wedding besides your memories. So I say do what you can afford and don’t feel bad about it.

It's definitely a tough decision, Samantha! Do you have the budget to go for the package with the edited video? It's really a question of weighing up what you want versus what you're willing to budget for it. What does your FS think?
