Videographer

Videographer vs no Videographer having trouble deciding if it’s a must have. If so...does anyone know of one in the Dallas area that’s reasonably priced?

It’s not a “must-have” by any means, but it is on the list of top priorities for some couples! We opted not to have a videographer, but we are having two photographers Smiley smile

I agree with PP. I don't think it's a must have if you have photography but if you've the budget for it though I'd include it. Otherwise it's not something needed, per say.

I think every couple has to decide what their personal "must-haves" are. For us a videographer IS a must-have because I am a cancer survivor and I want to leave something for my FH and future children to watch if it ever comes back that is happy. You have to figure out what's important to you and your FH and budget around those things

    Hey there, Emmaline Smiley smile

I totally agree with the previous posters. I think this will change from couple to couple! It is a splurge, however, if it was in your budget to have one, I would recommend it.

For me, a videographer would be a necessity. This WeddingWire article perfectly puts words to all the benefits of hiring one - The 5 Reasons You MUST Hire a Videographer For Your Wedding.

On the WeddingWire vendor directory, under videographer it is possible to filter by price - Dallas Wedding Videographers. This may help you find one within your budget Smiley smile

Do you have a videography style in mind for the day?

I found it necessary, but my husband did not. We had extra room in our budget so we had one. I wanted something to look back on after our wedding day. We got married in July, but still haven't received it so I can't wait until we do.

I had a videographer at my first wedding. I have watched the wedding video exactly one time in 24 years and that was the first day we received it. Now we are divorced after 22 years of marriage and neither of us wanted it. It’s sitting in my safety deposit box at the bank because it cost my parents so much money and I hate to throw it away.

No videographer for us this time. Not a must have but definitely important to lots of couples.

I have my Dad's cousin-in-law doing a 6 minute trailer type video for us. I think it's great because you get sections in the video for each part of the day. He is filming the whole ceremony for this trailer and giving us that as well so we have the video of the whole ceremony. I think a videographer is great because then you can actually watch the ceremony back. But not a must have. Just something you have to figure out if you want or not.

Not a must for us. It's not like we are going to sit and watch it enough to justify the sometimes several thousand dollars they cost.

I'm biased because I'm a wedding videographer myself, but I do think it's a necessity just as photography is. With video you really get to relive your day -- by not only seeing a still shot but seeing things in motion with sound. For me, having our vows captured is super important because I'm going to be an emotional mess and probably will not remember a thing. This will be a way for us to watch them again and again.
