Videographer Pricing

Tracy, on August 29, 2017 at 12:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 35

We met with a videographer last night that I loved. His pricing was higher than I wanted to pay ($3K) but I love his work and felt comfortable with him. We're incredibly lucky that my parents are paying for the wedding. My mom tends to be very frugal and "googled" the average price of a videographer at $1000-$1500. I tried to explain that I'm going off of reviews, looking at quality and considering packages but I don't think she is hearing me. What are you guys paying for videography and was anyone disappointed going with a "discount" videographer?

I'm paying $1000. I did my own research and went with whom I am comfortable with. I plan to write a review of all my vendors in my BAM.

I am paying $1300 and I did base my decision off of the same things you did. My wedding is not for another 6 months but I liked the companies facebook page to see all of the post they make about weddings they have just did.

"Averages" vary based on location, skill/experience, what's included, etc. You cannot go by just the average price, especially if it's not average for your specific location. I always say that wedding photography should be one of a couple's biggest investments. If people have the money to splurge and also get a videographer, I encourage it. If you're going to get a videographer, get a great one! Just like photography, you don't want to go cheap. Videographers spend just as much, if not more, time and energy than photographers preparing for your wedding, being at your wedding, and editing the product(s) after the wedding. Please don't discount their time and hard work. Excellent and beautiful videography does not come cheap, and it often comes in the few thousands range, so the price you listed ($3,000) sounds about right.

It sounds like your parents are paying for the wedding right? So if they're paying for everything, maybe this is something that you and your future spouse can save up for and pay for that one item? You have over a year to save, so it's something to consider, and I think it'd definitely be worth it if you love this person's work.

"Average" is highly dependent on location and talent; there is a reason you love the person you loved.....it's his talent, his intuition and his eye, and that all allows him to charge more than a cheaper person.

In my area, great video ranges from ****. If you want this person? Save up.

I paid $3440. Eight hours of coverage, 2 cinematographers, a digital downloadable link, 5 minute highlight trailer, 25 minute feature film. NST Pictures (various locations throughout the U.S.).

Averages are dependent on many things, as @Rachel Langerhans Photography said.

Sounds like your parents are paying for the wedding. I understand your mom being hesitant on paying $3,000 for a videographer. If you have your heart set on this one vendor, offer to pay for it yourself and save up.

My incredibly rough budget listed photography and videography at $2K each. I very quickly found out how incredibly low my estimate was. I am thinking about paying for one so we can have both. Everything is so incredibly expensive, but I agree that the photos and video are the only aspects that you will have after the day is over. Thank you!

We're paying $2900 for 8 hours, 2 videographers, USB, 10-15 film, plus full ceremony (catholic mass so it'll be long). It was about average (a little on the low side) for our area. I'm excited about it though. Everyone I talked to besides my parents recommended getting a videographer

The photographer we're looking at also does videography. It would be $1k for the photo package we want and $500 to add on video. We're still debating the video though.

I agree with PP's, the videographer's price depends on a lot of factors.

FH and I are getting a lot of help paying for our wedding from family so we have kept them in the loop when we're booking vendors. FMIL nearly had a heart attack when she heard the cost of our DJ. She insisted that we could get someone cheaper and cited FBIL's DJ cost (his wedding was 6 years ago and his DJ was a friend) and told us to shoot for a price like that. The best way to convince her was to gather a few quotes from our area and show her videos of the DJ's work. It proved that our quote wasn't out of the norm for our area and that anyone drastically cheaper was either much less experienced or seemed a lot less professional.

Mine is $2560 (I know the owner although not a friendor but he did give us last years price which was nice of him) near Baltimore, MD for a full day with two videographers...I think your price sounds about right for quality but of course will vary. My sister used a more discounted videographer and although her video is nice it is not the quality that I would prefer to have.

I would say price tends to be based off of location and experience. My videographer is really great and widely recognized. He charges $2500 typically. That is more than what I planned to spend, but luckily he is one of my dads friends so we are getting a discount!

In my area, top videographers are $5k and up. They produce an incredible product. $3k would be about average. I think your price sounds very reasonable.
