Video without a Videographer

Any good ideas on how to capture decent quality video clips of special moments at our wedding (reading of vows, speeches) without hiring a videographer?

I don't think I've ever met a single couple who says they've watched their video more than a few times after their wedding, but I do think it would be nice to have some of those special, once-in-a-lifetime moments to revisit in the future. I'm not looking for professional quality coverage, just decent video and audio to capture the memory more than anything.

We didn't plan it, but one of my cousins recorded our ceremony on his cell phone, which he sent to us. You can ask someone not directly involved in the wedding party to record. You can possibly even rent an actual video camera.

We had 3 GoPros (okay, "action cameras" not real GoPros). Two were set up on tripods for the ceremony. For the reception they were just passed around between bridal party members to capture the special moments. It worked out really well and we really enjoyed watching the videos later.

Oh yea I also got spammed with an add for that and looked into it. I wasn't too impressed, but I think its just not what I'm going for. Thanks for sharing though! I'm sure it would be a great fit for some couples.

Oh that's a really interesting idea. I have a GoPro and at least one of our guests is a professional YouTuber of mountain biking videos, and we've got a bunch of other action sports junkies involved so I'm sure we could round up a few cameras. Thanks for the suggestion!
