vfw hall for reception?

Alea, on November 5, 2018 at 10:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
So FH and I are paying for everything ourselves and the venue we wanted for the reception just isnt in budget. Has anyone had a reception at a vfw hall? If so, how do you decorate? Help!

This is very common in my hometown as an affordable and spacious option! For those weddings I've attended, they mostly utilize the table linens and set up to do most of the talking. Uplighting definitely helps, too! You could even hang lights or tulle/material from the ceiling or a chandelier! I feel like you have a blank canvas here so you can really mostly do anything!

This is a great and affordable options! I would contact the specific VFW and ask what is allowed for decor and what isn't. I think table decor is a huge thing, since it really makes the event more formal. So linens & china & place settings & centerpieces. I've also seen some great backgrounds behind sweetheart tables with wood or PVC pipe & streamers or lights hanging from them!

    Hello Alea!

I know a lot of our community members have their wedding at a VFW! I've been to a view and they were beautiful!

Building off of what FutureMrsKC and FutureMrsD said, you could hang lights and tulle/chiffon from the ceiling and decorate the tables/chairs with cloths and/or ribbons! Adding features such as linens, centerpieces, and uplighting will completely transform the space!
