Is it me or these country clubs charge a lot for weddings? The food and beverage minimums are ridiculously expensive 😩

Yes they do. Take a look at Eventective.com for other ideas in your area.

Everything that has to do with wedding is “extra”. I am kind of annoyed with my own wishes I can’t let go, because of the price tags.

We didn't look at country clubs, but we did look at hotels and some of them were ridiculous. One I remember was $12,000 on just food and beverage with a minimum of like 150 people. The hotel we went with was $7,000 for food and beverage and didn't have a minimum number of people requirement. Overall budget was between $20,000-23,000 so $7,000 on food was fine with us as food and beverage are the most expensive part of the wedding.

Right! My guest list is only 150 ppl and one of the venues (country club) was a minimum of 15,000 on food and it also was because of the date 🙄

Have you considered a Friday or Sunday? My friend is getting married on a Sunday at a country and it was cheaper because it wasn't on a Saturday.

Unfortunately, Saturday weddings are generally more expensive. For a 150 people, $15,000 is $100 per person which in some areas is actually considered the average cost or below average. Where are you trying to get married? All of our venue's standard packages started at over $100, but we choose to create our own package which was less since we went with buffet style rather than plated like the standard packages.

You can keep food costs down by going with a restaurant caterer. Nearly everyone from independent places to chains offer event catering and it's the same food they serve daily but without any wedding markup. Also a DIY/blank slate type venue will keep costs lower since they generally have tables and chairs on site. You would just rent linens through a rental business or caterer, bring in a caterer with bartender, florist, dj.

That’s what we’re looking for. Our planner has her own preferred vendors and we’ve seen their work. It’s just not many places that will let you bring your own catering

Browse the link above and they will tell you if they allow outside caterers. Alot of places do but they don't advertise in wedding sites.

Yes, country clubs are pricy because generally you're required to use their in-house catering (most country clubs in my city have a $20k food and beverage minimum). If you can find a venue that allows you to bring in your own food/choose your own caterer, then that should definitely help bring the price down

They are VERY overpriced and expensive!
I don’t know your budget, style, or how many people you have, but look into museums, conference centers, college campuses, backyard weddings. I prefer venues that allow outside catering so that you can pick what fits your budget better

Try off season. My 2nd choice venue waived the minimums since we were getting married in January
