Venue Searching

Hey all,

I've recently started planning again since I'm on summer break - I'm just curious: How many venues did you tour before booking?

I had 2 lined up to tour, but 1 has had terrible communication (4 emails in the last month) and still hasn't provided pricing, which I requested in the first email. So that leaves me with one venue - I'm just a bit uneasy not having anything to compare to! (And probably a bit of FOMO)

What are your thoughts?

One. I did quite a bit of research & before we even toured I knew the prices, what the venue included (for the most part it is all inclusive) & the reviews.
The venue had great reviews, but specifically one of their DOC had amazing reviews. So I contacted her directly to set up the appt.
When we got there to do the tour we knew it was that place. The venue is beautiful, the people couldn’t be nicer & the lunch pricing was within our budget.
We truly feel that we made the right decision, they are so easy to deal with. Also every single vendor that I hired knows of this place & specifically the DOC & always ask me if she’s the DOC.

We toured one that we liked but it just wasn’t going to work for us at all. They were very picky about just about everything 😂 we then toured our now venue and fell in love and knew we have to book it!

We toured 2 and ended up booking the first.

I did a lot of research to make a full, comprehensive list of the venues that had what we were looking for (we wanted something on the water, basically - and under a certain price). After I did that, I sat down with my FH and asked him to help me narrow it down. From there, it became apparently we had 1 favorite and 2 others we liked and wanted to see. We saw our favorite first, fell in love, and then saw a second to just be sure.

We ended up going with our favorite and are SO excited for the big day - it's at the kind of location we can see ourselves going back to visit regularly.

Good luck with your research and touring!

We contacted 5 or 6 for information first, then went to tour 3 of those before choosing. Definitely don't go with someone who isn't good at responding to your emails. It likely won't get better even as your day gets closer.

Also, I do recommend checking out st least a couple different places or getting information for multiple venues. Even just info packets from places we didnt like gave us an idea of what we wanted, questions we needed to ask, ect.

Thanks! You make a good point about information from multiple venues, and coming up with questions to ask!

We toured 2 and booked the 2nd one. I was also concerned about FOMO, but realized I was more worried about not booking the venue we fell in love with and someone else booking our date... all because I was looking at other venues just to say we did.

We toured one but we spent a long time researching about 15. We decided to tour the one we loved the most just to get an idea of what we would want and we ended up completely falling in love with it!

I would suggest narrowing it down to a couple of venues that you REALLY love. It can be overwhelming touring a bunch of places and it might be difficult to fit it into your schedule.

Just one. At the time I was waiting for a response from another venue I was really interested in but when our now venue told us that the date we were inquiring about was the only available one left in May 2020, it felt like it was meant to be. Plus my fiancé fell in love with the place. Meanwhile the other venue I was waiting on never got back to me so I guess it was meant to be lol.

I really have NO PATIENCE, so after viewing two venues and realizing that they provide the bare minimum so I still need shop for flowers, decor, DJ, cake etc. I decided on an all inclusive venue in Miami that provided everything including my bouquet for a set price for 100 guests.

I booked the first one I went to. I liked it and booked it once we toured it. My cousin had her wedding there and it was very nice.

We went to 2. Loved the first, but just wanted a little more. One day shortly after, I went nuts and booked 3 more tours elsewhere. Whelp we ended up booking the second place we toured. I all but threw my money at the poor lady. Personally, I don’t think it’s the number of place to visit, it’s the quality of that visit. I wanted a fire, water, and the ability to minimize vendors, and I got all that PLUS amazing customer service. The lady even sent me a happy new year card. Ain’t that cute?!

Anyways, enough of my rambles. Go with your gut! 😁

I looked at about 3 places, but when I found my venue I knew that was the one and never second guessed myself. I say shop around for sure.

We toured 3 as a couple and my mom and myself toured 4-5 before my FH and I decided on the one. Honestly "the one" felt right from the first communications. Their coordinator was prompt and friendly in her responses and worked with us on dates and budget. It has been an amazing experience so far and I cannot imagine picking another location. Good luck in your search!

If you know your budget & what you like & what you are looking for, then you have no reason for FOMO.
I did a massive venue research online, where I was able to see their photos, menus & reviews. I communicated online with maybe 7 of them. And we toured only 2 of them, that we knew will be perfect for us. We loved them both & ultimately picked the one that felt more like us & was more flexible with time.

I researched about 100+. Narrowed it down via our requirements (non-preferred caterers) - which left about 2 to tour. Then we found out our favorite art gallery was now hosting events.. so we we stopped there. We did not need to tour it really, since we visit every month. So 2.

I researched like 20. Visited 2 and booked the first venue we visited.

After we left the first one we were so in love with it that I really don't think we gave the second one a fair chance...lol
