Sooo… I already had my venue and deposit in and contract signed, the person I had been dealing with is no longer there, so the new person called me yesterday to tell me there are some changes that needed to be made with my contract, then she proceeded to tell me that the "opt out" fee was going from my contracted $3.00 per person to $10.00 per person, and I have 270 guests... WTH!!! So in my contract it has a paragraph stating that changes can be made from either side as long as it is within 60 days of the event date. But I don't think that its fair the terms of my contract could be changed that drastically!!! I just told her, that was outrageous and unacceptable, and I would like my deposit back and we will find another venue. And the icing on the cake is that they don't have the capacity to cater our wedding as to their cook is a short order or a prep cook. My fiancée told e just to find another venue because he doesn't want to go thru any issues the day of. So I am back to square 1 on venues, and its even harder now because its within a year of our date now. I don't know if this is a "help me" or a "im venting" problem.

Within 60 days of the date, yes it was mainly so that I can make changes.

I think you should ask around for reccomendations for another venue. Facebook has a reccomendation option when ypunpost in a local group. Getting a reccomendation is a great way to find out about a venue from someone who has used them! Also, I've heard that you can negotiate the terms of your venue agreement. Make a list of what you do and don't want from a venue and when you meet with them, explain your reasons. Good Luck!!

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. We had a great experience with them, but again we were at a different location.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I had a similar situation. I had picked a venue paid the deposit. they changed managers and the new management would not honor the old contract and the new management was way more money. I got my deposit back then I prayed on it and found another venue twice as big as the original venue and less money. I am sending positive vibes you will find your venue with more than you can ask for. God bless you and Congratulations.

Try a venue like a country club or true wedding banquet hall venue. I just spoke with a hotel a few miles from my venue and if we book at least 10 rooms that night they provide a free shuttle to/from hotel. In Ft. worth I’m thinking barn weddings maybe? Could be really cool and hold lots of people. Look at venue here. Or try eventdetective.

I'm getting married at one of the Walter's estates and it is absolutely beautiful. But pricey. But it includes alot and the contract is straight forward
