Venue for $1,000 or less???

TooManyMistys, on May 9, 2013 at 7:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Hello, My FI and I are looking to get Married in June 21 2014. I am currently looking for a venue. I have found a few but not many in our budget. We are trying to do the whole wedding for 5K. We don't have anyone helping us with this to get things really on the cheap so for the most part I am just working on getting what I want for of course in budget. So I have am looking for places where the rental is under 1000 BUT allows alcohol anywhere really in the DFW area (but would prefer Dallas area). I do know of the Times Ten Cellars (both in Dallas and Ft Worth) of course the Winfrey Point (which after fee's was over 1k), and we are checking to a community center near by this weekend. I am also going to check the Heard Museum in Mckinney (but again a little far for my liking). I have also looked into restaurants but most were either out of budget OR we didn't really care much for the look that we have found so far. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't help you with location, but curious, does that budget include food or no? It might help others narrow down a place for you Smiley smile

I had a heck of a time finding a venue in our budget. It took a long time, but we finally found one! Don't get discouraged, eventually you will find the perfect place Smiley smile

I can't help on the venue either but I found one in San Antonio for less than 1K by getting married on a Sunday. Most venues, if not all, will be cheaper on a Sunday vs a Friday or Saturday.

The 1,000 does not. If food is added I want it to be under 3,000 with food and alcohol. I have found one restaurant that I can do food and drinks for about 2800 (that includes the venue and everything). I am trying to see if I can do better than that. IF I can find a place that would allow me to bring in my own catarers of course it would (or could) save even more. BUT if I go this route (bring in my own food/drinks) I need the venue to be about 1K.

Community centers or the like could be a great place to start as you said. Where I live, you need to have either a server with a liquor license or a police officer, (which you can rent for $50.00 per hour). I just know that for where I live but I'm sure a caterer or other vendor will chime in for you.

Best of luck and have fun. I'm sure you'll find something that fits the bill perfectly Smiley laugh

Thanks Smiley smile yeah I haven't been so lucky to find many community centers that will allow drinks. I know most places that are not "wedding venues" will probably be the best deal. We are also hoping to find a place where we can do the ceremony AND reception (forgot to add that). I just don't want to over look a place. Smiley smile

You'd be suprised at what's out there. If that's your date, you have time to branch out through networking with friends and family. I'm believing someone will come across something.

Yes, I agree with Tom. Or how about having it in your own home? Or a relative's? That way, you'll just be worrying about the food and beverage, kind of DIY and stays on the budget.

We're having a hotel ballroom reception and the room rental was $150 for 75 guests or fewer and $250 for 76 and up.

I would look at some of your state parks - Cooper Lake is gorgeous!!

    http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/nearby/dfw

Most of the time they charge a small fee per hour - like $25.00 or so. Most state parks do not allow alcohol, but you could go to a state park for the ceremony and then find a local community center for the reception.

Here are some other venues I found...

The Forth Worth Botanical Garden also has great prices...

    Spring Park Community Center

    Hope this helps!

If you look at State and County Parks, you can usually rent a Pavilion and area just for your event. If you are looking for indoors...you could look at Township Halls, Knights of Columbus halls, Community Centers, some Apartment communities, residential communities, or manufacture home communities will have club houses. Many along those lines are not going to be super expensive, but you will need to do all of your own set up and break down. Also, beware if there is a pool anywhere near the club houses...you wouldn't want you guests to see more than they we looking for poolside.

Have fun, you have the time to explore your options!

I will be far too hot for an outside ceremony. I don't want my guest to melt lol. Melissa all of those are over the price range (except the fair view but we are not interested in that venue) We want just indoors if all possible. I haven't researched many club houses I do know usually you have to know someone who lives there? Thanks we are looking into a few halls. Our home is totally out of the question and no one we know has a home we could have the wedding at that could hold about 75 people with dancing and a dj all that jazz. The budget is fine, and we don't mind renting a venue just making sure there isn't a hidden gem I may not of heard of that's cheap. Most places we have found so far have been either from a google search or wedding boards so it's been really helpful.

I have seen a few hotels that were cheap but the condition was you had to buy their food. The ones I have looked at once the food was added it was way out of budget.

We considered special moments but they didn't have much of a dance floor Smiley sad . So far we have three possibilities but none set in stone. There is an Elks lodge near by I am going to be checking them out on Saturday as one possible place.

Clubhouses you can use if you know someone who lives there and they are willing to sign off for you

OK - not sure about cost but here are some links

    http://www.nashersculpturecenter.org/getdoc/38861de8-12b5-495d-916b-228274b00b70/PrivateEvents-Brochure_final2

Winfrey Point Dallas - 160 per hour - definitely in your price range

    http://www.dallasparks.org/reservations/reservations.aspx

Collin County Myers Park - rustic package is 800.00

    http://www.co.collin.tx.us/parks/myers/wedding_package.jsp

McKinney Performing Arts Center - very good rates

    http://www.mckinneytexas.org/index.aspx?NID=906

Pantego Lions Club in Arlington - $1000 and a $200 refundable deposit for all day from 8am -1am

    http://www.pantegolions.org/

Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary - To get married in the garden would cost $350 for the day or $200 for half-day. The best place is the Laughlin Hall, which is located next to the bird sanctuary, and contains a kitchen. The hall is $450 for a full day and $250 half-day. They also have an amphitheater that holds up to 500 people for $150 per hour.

    Bob Duncan Center - http://www.arlingtontx.gov/parks/bobduncan/

If a small wedding party of less than 50, one of the intimate rooms will work. They are $150 for four hours or $400 all day (fourteen hours). For larger parties, the main hall is the best option. For all day, it costs $800, and to have the stage it is $100 more. The center does have a wedding package. The packages contain clean-up, linens, cloths, skirts, kitchenette, and wedding arch. The main hall package also has a dressing room. The two packages cost $850 and $2100, but that is optional. You can bring your own food for $3 per person. For more information go to www.arlingtontx.gov or 817-465-6661.

We looked at bars and restaurants - most wont charge you a rental fee, you just have to meet a certain minimum in food and drinks.

@Melissa K. We are going to tour the Heard Musuem (that's one of those I was talking about earlier Smiley smile). Winfery point actually isn't as cheap as it sounds it's a do it yourself venue so the time you rent you have to include the time that you set up/take down. So say 8 hours (6 hours for ceremony and reception) that leaves just one hour for set up and take down. That is already at 1280 with out adding in security deposits. I always see this as low cost venue but really I can see where it could be pretty pricey also the chairs I hear are just the metal ones? So most rent chairs (another additional cost).

Napser I will look up I haven't checked into that one, Collin, Mckinney (I may of checked into this one I will have to check)., I know I checked into the lions club (can't remember why we didn't go with them I will have to look at emails but it might be they never got back to me), bob duncan does not allow drinks...
