Hey guys !! First time in an open forum and I wanted your insight on some things ..

My fiancee and i have found our perfect venue but are on the fence of how things are being organized . From my understanding , they’re asking us to Zelle them a $1500 NON REFUNDABLE deposit in order to secure our date and set the initial deposits for the vendors they use as it’s an all inclusive package . Have any of you done such thing ? I work for a bank so I feel that I should know better .. just wanting to hear your opinions . 💜

It’s a really convenient service , I won’t deny that . HOWEVER , I see way too many instances where people get ripped off after they send the money

I read something similar to ours like that too ! We get some of the deposit back as long as we clean up and leave everything in order

Our venue required a $1000 non-refundable deposit to reserve the date. The deposit is then placed towards the grand total. If something horrible were to arise - that fee becomes a cancelation fee. We used a personal check to secure the deposit sent directly to our wedding coordinator at the venue. I haven't heard much of Zelle to make venue deposits, but if it's similar to PayPal, then just make sure its SAFE and that it is received and used directly towards your venue (and nothing scam like) !

    Hope that helps! Best wishes!

We had a photographer that wanted us to Western Union or Moneygram them or pay in cash their entire fee to book our date and then when I needed to discuss the red signs with my fiance messaged me several more times in the next few hours needless to say we didn't go with that photographer. The rest of our contacts for vendors have been great. How long has this vendor been open and do they have references and/or a good reputation in the community you are getting married in? One of the things my fiance and I decided was to go with companies with established reputations that don't cause us doubts and or people that we know that legitimately work within their respective vendor area
