Venue cost... is this normal?

emjo, on September 30, 2018 at 8:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
A lot of the places I have found are around $6000 for the venue. This includes tables, chairs, day of coordinator, tent and that is it. I am looking at outdoor locations in the Richmond, VA area. I'm just wondering is this a normal price? I feel like just using a space shouldn't be thousands of dollars.

Unfortunately yes this is common. My venue was $6500. Again like you said that included all the tables, chairs, plates, silverware, linens, day of coordinator and help with layout. If you add up the cost of those perks it helps justify the cost as a day of coordinator can be around $1000 or more alone, chairs are around $1000-$1500 depending on quality and tables and silverware can add up too.

I also live in the Richmond area! My venue is $6K for the venue, DOC, set up, tables, chairs, linens, etc. I would say this is pretty standard for where we live.

Depending on your location, $6k is a very average price for a venue.

Yes it’s very normal. My venue was $3000 but doesn’t include anything. Well except a small budget for linens which won’t cover everything.

Unfortunately that’s totally normal. I’m getting married in MD and our venue is $7500 (with a $500 discount for paying in full upon booking) and doesn’t include linens, tableware etc. The whole wedding industry is such a money-making powerhouse and it’s such a shame since it’s meant to be about celebrating the union of 2 people and it’s so easy to get caught up in making the day “perfect.” During the whole planning process it’s so easy to get caught up in the nonessential details. I’ve had to constantly remind myself what’s actually important: the fact that I’m getting to marry my love and not to sweat if my wedding doesn’t look identical to my Pinterest board.

We're getting married in the Norfolk, VA area, and when we first started looking, some places wanted around that amount for just the venue itself. I heard a local brewery in Norfolk charges $10K JUST for the use of the building! I think we got lucky (although we haven't had the wedding yet) but we chose the Norfolk Woman's Club which is in a beautiful historic mansion. They're a nonprofit and just started offering brides an amazing package deal that includes a ton of extras (I'm talking full catering, bar, coordinator, fresh flowers, chairs, tables, linens, etc) for around $8500. I am sure Richmond is a bit pricier, but I'd definitely keep shopping around. I refused to shell out $5-6K for just a venue. Maybe I'm cheap? I don't know, but I think we got a great deal in the long run (as long as it all pulls together!)

Mine is at a bed and breakfast that has a fancy hall for 1,500. That's not including the hidden fees they hit you with after loll. But yeah.. Just have to look around.

I live in Michigan and my all inclusive venue will come out to about $5000 for 150 people. Which includes catering, open bar, linens, centerpieces, uplighting, etc.

Our three venues are $6500, $6000 or $4500. I work on the eastern shore in Maryland. This is the room, tables, ivory linens, china and glassware. Then you pay a price per person of $135 pp for food and beverage. This is before tax and gratuity.

Our venue was $1,500 includes the ballroom and patio, linens, tables, chairs, china, glasses, use of bridal suite, wedding coordinator, centerpieces and the set up/ tear down. We are located in PA. Most venues are around $5k just for the venue.

Yuuuup. I cried. Site fees in Napa are $5K-10K (or more). So, we did a small wedding off-season, on a weekday... and saved over 50%.

Yes, that seems to be the norm for wedding venues here in Ohio. There are less expensive places, especially in the park systems but they are typically a complete diy, meaning you have to hire and set up everything yourself.

I'm in Denver. The venue we went with cost $11,000 ($9,900 with military discount) for 12 hour use at the venue & tables & chairs. So no tent or coordinator. We can use their indoor or outdoor space, bridal suite & groom's suite. We are the only wedding that day and we can do a rehearsal the Friday morning before our Saturday wedding. We have to use one of their 5 caterer options, and their bar package. We also have to hire a day of coordinator who is insured, and get our own wedding insurance. We looked at a lot of venues though, from $1,000-$12,000 so it really just depends.

We are in Northern Va. And unfortunately, you have to go MUCH further from the cities for the cost to go down [talking 2-3 hours]. If I found one in our area that was 6,000 and included all that I would be jumping for joy!!

Here tents can run $900 easy [for a small one, no walls, no accessories], chairs are $6/each. Tables range, but around $10-15/each. DOC range widely, but I would say $1,500 is LOW END- most are around $2500 if I remember correctly.

Look at it this way: If you have a guest count, you have a chair count and a table count. Add that with DOC [BIG FACTOR ]. Then subtract that total [bonuses coming with the venue] from your venue cost. You might be impressed with your new "venue" price. Plus, with all that included it will go MUCH smoother. Take it from someone 2 weeks from wedding day: when the venue has tables and chairs, set up is faster, floor planning easier, less stress. Trust me, it may not be as bad as the sticker price seems once you factor in what you are going to save, or at least merge into one deposit/payment, which ALSO makes life easier a month out when everything is chaos!! Good Job!!

Michigan bride here. I will be paying $7,000 for the venue, tables, chairs, and ceremony fee. Definitely shocked at the price but it's our dream venue and we also have it for the full weekend from Friday to Sunday. So for us, it made it a bit more worth it to be able to set up and host a rehearsal dinner on Friday, have fun on Saturday, and then come back and tear down on Sunday.
