Venue Concern

Maria, on September 6, 2019 at 11:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I’m looking at different venue options such as banquet halls which provide food options + utensils/plates/napkins etc. Or a place where the cost of venue is separate and I would need to find an outside caterer. Which would require renting of plates/cups/utensils. What’s your experience? Which option is cost efficient?

I really think it depends on the venue. One full-service venue we looked at was a relatively good deal (exclusive to their caterers though) whole another was outrageously expensive. We decided to go with a venue that allows all of our own vendors. This let us choose exactly who/what we wanted and is saving is money in the long run!

It depends what you want and what the venue offers. For us, it is more cost efficient to book a venue with no packages and purchase our vendors separately. For a number of reasons, more freedom with food choices, low cost on an outside caterer that chargers by the hour instead of paying 50-100$ per person, providing own alcohol vs paying $25/person or by drink for open bar based on knowing our guests are heavy drinkers. It just honestly depends how you want your wedding structured. I feel like venues that let you do your own thing give you more freedom and not so uptight with restrictions that I’ve seen most venues have

I went with a restaurant that had the food and all the amenities included. It was cheaper for me since the type of catering I needed was hard to come by.sometimes it could be cheaper to rent a venue and get all the other parts to it.

    Hi.

Bringing your own supplies depending on how you do it will save the most 💵.

I ordered disposable 🍽 from Amazon.

    My catering will feed 200.

I selected a City owned facility that has a Kitchen. Food can be warmed, but not cooked.

They have the Tables and chairs for 200 and a nice view of the Water.

    Congratulations and 🍀‼️

Our venue included all inclusive catering and honestly it has made planning all that much easier. We don't have to worry about the type's or amount's of things like plate's, cup's, silverware, napkin's, etc. The only thing we had to pick out was the color of the napkin's and linen's and the style of charger we will be using at each seat.

We spent $11,000 on our venue, outside caterer and outside rentals (based on estimates, our wedding is in November. We have an event manager who will set things up the day before and check in with our vendors.

My friend spent $12,000 on her venue which included catering, rentals, and a DOC. So in my area it was about the same.

I think it all depends on what deals you find. We found an awesome all inclusive venue that’s is only costing us $69 per head, and that price includes open bar. I feel like we got away really cheap, and we’re really happy with how everything is going with working with them so far.

That’s all going to depend on each vendor. You will have to do the research to see what it would cost to get all the supplies yourself, and put a per person price to that. And then you can compare it to the all inclusive venue pricing. You also should consider the time and energy you’ll have to put into coordinating everything yourself. If it’s a significant difference that’s a great way to save money, but sometimes it’s just not worth doing it all yourself to save a couple hundred bucks.

A la carte is not always cheaper. I went with an all-inclusive venue. All I had to do was find the DJ, photographer, and florist. The venue took care of food, linens, bar, and even the cake (contracted out to a popular wedding cake bakery in the area). We also had an event coordinator. It came out to $120pp after taxes, fees, and included tips. This was for a 3 course sit down dinner and relatively elaborate cocktail hour. I'm in NJ, where everything is very expensive, so this was a steal compared to other venues. It was at a country club.

It's going to to to be a little less expensive for us to do a venue where we hire outside vendors. Our budget was small to begin with but we are saving about $1,000. In addition we get to choose our catering, provide our own alcohol (better alcohol and variety for less money), have the venue for 2 full days so we can set up and have the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner there if we want. Also now we are able to afford a cocktail hour (DIY non-cooked appetizers).
