So I don’t know what to do, I booked with my venue about 6 months ago. And today I went on the website to show it to a coworker & the website wasn’t working. When I went on the wedding wire app it stated that they are no longer in business. I called them to double check what happened & they advised me that they are not taking new clients at the moment & they’ll be doing some new renovations in June. I asked about payments they said they can give us the account number to make payments.
I found it kinda fishy.

should I look for a new venue?

If you don't mind my asking, what is the name and location of the venue? Have you done any research to see if they're currently in financial trouble? Personally I would start looking elsewhere as this is a HUGE red flag. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this.

I called they will be emailing me a contract, he advised he is not taking clients at the moment because he needs to make the renovations. But he plans on opening up in July again. I spoke to him already. I should be getting a contract today.

Longans place in Florida. I haven’t done that, because honestly I would or never noticed what happened if it wasn’t for me showing the venue to another coworker. I didn’t think much of it they had a wedding about two weeks ago that I saw on Instagram.

Also, have you asked them what they're changing with the renovation? It seems very odd to me that they wouldn't inform future brides that they're changing something major enough to take down the website. What if you don't like it after the renovations?

Also find out when they plan to have those done, renovations usually go long...

Why does he keep saying he's not taking new clients? Aren't you an existing client since you've already given a deposit and have a date set? Does he not know that?

Yea they’re aware, he’s just expressing to me that they are opened to us who have booked already. But not taking anyone else until after the renovations are over with. He plans on raising his prices. I have it cleared already. They’re sending me the contract already so I’m more at ease.

I didn’t ask, honestly. It’s an outdoor venue with two huge tikis they maybe taking those down or making more space for couples. I didn’t ask. He said by the end of July the renovations should be over with.

We also booked with them, when we met about 3 months back he informed us that he was renovating and making the place bigger. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I was worried but I’ve spoken to them already, I’m just going to wait until July before making anymore payments to them. I’ll go saving the money once they finish their renovations & have my contract emailed I’ll continue making payments. If not I’ll search for a new venue or my back up which is at tha family farm.

Get in contact with them, get them to write a contract, and go from there. If they can't/won't write a contract, find a new venue. Hopefully everything works out for you.

They’re supposed to email me one today, he told me to give him a few hours. His assistant reached out to me already telling me she’s working on it.
