Venue backed out, 3 weeks before wedding.

Hi everyone, so I’m at lost for words. I feel like only brides can understand the true stress of a wedding. I never knew how stressful this could be. I understand how a bridezilla was made now. Our venue decided to wait 3 weeks before decided the wedding to cancel our reception and give us our money back…!! I don’t know what to do

    Omg that sucks, are you able to find a hotel ballroom or anything that you can use for the day? I know it may be cutting it close.

    I’m so sorry this happened to you. All brides worst nightmares come true. I wish I had better advice than this but just start calling every venue around.

    I'd be at the doors asking for the check immediately. No waiting for it to appear in the mail.

    Put a call out on your local FB group to see if any venues have openings, you'll get a lot of unconventional places I'm sure.

    The good news is that August is typically a slow season for weddings because of the heat, so you might get lucky in finding a space.

    Why would they cancel?? Look at your contract and see if there's something that can be done. Is there anything I can do to help?

    Oh my gosh!! Did they give a reason for their cancelation? I'm so sorry this happened to you!! UGH!! Start reaching out to other vendors ASAP! Good luck!!

    Hi everyone,

    I was hoping I could edit the message I posted. I was so tired and emotional yesterday to fill the details. We signed a contract almost a year ago with the venue, Burntshirt Vineyards. WHAT A MISTAKE! Everything seemed fine initially, and they told us they do the tasting a month before the wedding. My wedding coordinator attempted to reach them for months to set a time to do the tasting and go over the contract and payment. No response until 4 weeks out before my date. We finally set up a meeting to do the tasting at 3 weeks before the wedding, and no one working including the manager had any relocation of it...!

    We were disappointed because they told us they were no longer doing weddings and unsure what will be on the menu and didn't have an answer for us, which is hard to hear with a wedding in 3 weeks. They management were apologetic and set up a time for us to pick up food for the tasting in 3 days. Suddenly, 3 days later I received a call from a LAWYER representing Burntshirt, explaining we broke our contract and they are canceling our wedding. We broke the contract by not paying 30 days before the date. We NEVER received an invoice, and how could they? We never had a chance to set up the food and alcohol we wanted for the wedding to bill us! I know the owners did not cancel because of the money because we could have made the payment if they had arranged the food and everything. I guess we were an inconvenience. This really shows what type of people the owners are. I am so disappointed. I have guest from different states and countries coming and to find a place and notify them is such as hassle. Not to mention I am in my last semester in school and working and so it my fiancé.
