Venue Advice

Alaina, on February 3, 2020 at 9:54 PM Posted in Ohio Planning 0 6
Hi everyone! I’m planning on getting married in May 2021, and I’m looking for venues now. I could use ANY advice about things to look for in a venue, questions to ask, and tips for saving money!

Also, if anyone lives in Ohio and has any venue suggestions please share!

Max capacity, minimum people count required, rain plans, if you can bring in your own linens if you want or do you have to rent theirs, do you have to set up or will they set your your decor, do they have any centerpiece parts you can use such as mirrors or vases. Obvious money saving tips, Friday or Sunday weddings, off season weddings, shorter bar package or cheaper bar package, buffet vs sit down dinner costs. If it's just a venue and they don't have on site food do you have to use their cater or can you choose your own. If you'll need a hotel is there one near by and is transportation available. Is tax and gratuity included in the price they give you, that makes a huge difference in cost. Happy planning!

What Rachael said plus what’s all included. I.e. are tables and chairs included? Is there a ceremony fee (hotels can charge per person), cake cutting fee, etc. I’d also look at service charges once you narrow in on a place, some have a really high mandatory gratuity of the overall bill and have other weird add ones like dance floor, valet, etc. If you want to DIY, make sure you can set up or see if you’ll need to have a coordinator

Don’t stress about asking for everything when you go see it! You’ll always be able to follow up via email if you have additional questions, and a lot of places will give you a courtesy block of 1 week
