Vendors not responding...

Shelly, on November 16, 2019 at 8:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
I’ve usually been able to get in touch with vendors to inquire about their services and to hire. I’ve got the big ticket items taken care of but now I need to find a MUA and hair stylist. Trying to find someone to do both for me and my BMs. I wear a full face daily so I am a little more picky over who I hire for make up. I’ve looked at all the vendor recommendations from my coordinator and someone on WW near our venue. I’ve reached out to two. One of them I filled out their form on their website and I got an automated response saying they would get back to me within 24 hours. I heard nothing.
So two weeks go by and I email her because my coordinator gave me her email. No response. I decide to reach out to another artist to see if they are available. No response. What is the deal?! I don’t want to hire someone for an important day if they can’t even respond to me. But at the same time I don’t want to settle for someone if I don’t really care for their work. Sorry if I am just venting. Feeling stressed!

Fall is an incredibly busy season for weddings so I’d try to be understanding BUT don’t stop looking. Try a local Facebook page for your area and go with who people recommend the most. The people with good reputations in town I feel are more likely to be responsive and have better customer service!

This happens all the time. I feel if they can’t reply in 3 business days I don’t want them at my wedding and I can find someone else.

How funny, I had the same exact issue with hair stylists too!

I reached out to several salons, individual hair stylists, and small companies that specialize in wedding hair and it was crickets.

In my desperation, I posted to a local FB group and found an awesome beauty company that way. They've been super responsive and organized and I actually like their portfolio the best out of all the ones I reviewed!

(Didn't have any of the above issues with my makeup artist -- she's been extremely prompt and professional, even in the midst of a busy wedding season.)

I wouldn't settle. Communication is so important to me and critical for event-planning, so I personally didn't make any exceptions. Keep trying! You'll find the MUA and stylist that you're meant to have.

If they can’t respond within a reasonable time I wouldn’t want to hire them. Luckily for me most of my vendors responded same day or within 24 hours. Keep looking.
