Vendor won’t respond

Jill, on May 9, 2019 at 4:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
I have contacted 5 different vendors about our wedding cake and nobody will respond to me. I know this happens but I’m getting extremely frustrated. Our venue is in the middle of 2 major cities but not really near either one, so we don’t have that many to pick from unless we want to pay super high delivery costs. There is even one right in the same city that has excellent reviews but no response. I told FH at this rate we just aren’t having cake. Just venting because I knew you all would understand.

Are you contacting them via email or phone or wedding wire? I found the most responsive was calling, then emailing directly through their website, then wedding wire.

This! I emailed vendors first. If I didnt get a response, I called. If no response after calling, I crossed them off the list. Also, with email, it may end up in the spam folder sometimes. That happened with our initial contact with our photographer. The form we filled out on her site was sending to her spam folder, so it was about 2 weeks before we got a response.

Right. During wedding season, I waited 2-3 weeks to get a response. Outside of wedding season, 1-2.

I contacted one on here, a few on the knot, and 2 through their contact page on their website. Usually only have time to do this after work in the evenings, so calling is harder but I guess I will make time. I haven’t had trouble with any other vendors contacting me back. But I guess they are busy making cakes, right? lol

It took me longer to hear back from bakers, and they were the worst for not responding ever. Worst case, visit a place in person, if you can. But nowadays they have those cute stands that hold individual tiers staggered at different heights, so you could always just buy three separate cakes from a place you like and trust, and set them up yourself.

How are you contacting them? I used this site to contact an officiant originally but she had trouble receiving our message. Try phone or email and see if that’s any better

I had this problem when trying to contact vendors via wedding wire/the knot. So I just started calling or emailing through their website. Once you make direct contact via telephone or their website contact form, you can usually begin emailing with no trouble. I’ve had much better luck that way. Good luck!

I was going to say your best option is to call them personally or stop in their shop.

    Sorry, that is the worst.
I've definitely changed my opinions on some local venues due to them never responding to me.
I'd say try calling them during your lunch.

I've had several vendors ghost. They will be communicating, then they disappear. I always ask the best way to get in touch, usually they don't respond to this as well. I like to send things through FB messenger so I can tell if they read it or not. At least I know I'm being ignored and can move on, I usually do have a follow up before I write them off. It's amazing to me how many people don't respond back. I'm also running into some DJ's who don't want to provide a contract...no thank you! I want both of us protected.
