Vendor taking too long to respond

Hi ladies!
Soooo I have two vendors that take almost a week and sometimes even longest to respond to my emails, one is for my linens and centerpiece and also day of coordinator, the other one is for other rentals ( wedding arch, big LOVE marquee letters, etc) I haven’t made the deposit to booked them yet. I feel a bit hesitant. now they do have good reviews and from what I’ve read they seem reliable. I understand that they get busy with their line of work but I just find it a little unprofessional for them to take that long to answer back. I have four months left and I feel like I just have to booked them already and get it over with but at the same time I feel that I might be making a mistake. Have you experienced that from vendors is it normal for them to take that long to answer back? P.S: I do call as well, with no answer most of the time.

    I don't think a week is too long for a response. It's busy season and obviously people with events much closer in time get priority.

    I agree with Chandra. And, if you haven't booked them yet, seems like they would be slower to respond to someone who isn't really a client yet. Maybe once you book them, they'll be more likely to respond quickly.

    Well, if you want that clients business I think they should be a priority as well, they are just as important because they could be potential costumers. But I see what you are saying. Maybe I’m comparing them to my other vendors who have been very responsive even before I booked them!

    I've known people in the industry, a week response time is normal. In order to do what they do they have to do it basically every evening and often only assign one day to "office" tasks like replying to messages, typically Mondays but some vendors will vary it.

    Ugh I hate when vendors do this. My caterer takes like a month to respond to me and I try to be patient because they are based out of a local college so on top of wedding and events they also feed all of the college students (even though now its summer break). My mom thinks they don't respond too quickly because my date is still a year away. IDK if my wedding is in 3 years if I have questions I want answers. We've already picked our menu, linens. and china and put money down so there's no going back now, but also we have to use them because our venue uses them. Eye roll. I literally send them an email every week until they respond, I don't call or text just because I like to have a paper trail. You have until October so I would keep calling and email every week until end of June and if nothing then move on to so place else before they book up.

    Oh wow! a month to answer back?!That’s crazy! Yes, I feel we try to be understanding but we have to get things done ourselves and yes my wedding is four months from now 😱. So, yesterday I finally got the email back from on the vendors that I really wanted to booked the one that has the round arch, the cross and the marquee letters and guess what she said to me? Oh I’m sorry but that date is already booked! I almost started crying because I was counting on all of her rentals for the wedding and had talk to my florist so she could decorate the arch. and so I got to start from square one, I just don’t understand why she took over a week to tell me that and waste my time, I was waiting for her to send me the quote and so I could make the deposit to secure the date...ugh but I know God has everything under control. Yes definitely I’m going to keep calling! Best wishes on your wedding planning girly!
