Vendor Response Time

Lindsay, on December 9, 2019 at 2:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hello everyone! I have been looking at venues for a wedding in Fall 2021. There is a venue I absolutely fell in love with online so I emailed to set up a tour. The vendor responded to that message within 48 hours with a possible day for a tour. However I was unavailable to tour that day due to having to work and so I responded to let them know that and I haven’t gotten a response back since. It has been one week today. I am just trying to see if this is normal and has happened to others too? I’m not sure whether I should reach out again or what to do! I just really love the venue based on what I saw online and couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Any advice helps! Thanks in advance!!

Did you suggest another date for the tour or did you just say "Sorry, I'm not available for that day"? They may be waiting for you to suggest a date as they don't know your schedule. They may also just be busy and given that your wedding isn't for almost two more years, they may have more pressing things to attend. Not saying they should be ignoring you, just voicing a possibility!

I would just reach out again and say "hey there, just following up with you about touring the venue. Would any of these dates work for you?" and list a few that work with your schedule Smiley smile If they don't respond after that, I would look into another venue.

Yes I did suggest other dates! I’m just worried that with the popularity of this particular venue, it will book up before I even have a chance to tour it! I’m trying to be understanding because I’m sure they’re probably swamped with other weddings, but it can be hard when antsy about planning! Thanks so much for the advice 😊

Hopefully it was just something that slipped through the cracks on their end and they get back to you soon! It's awesome that you found a venue you're so excited about, best of luck!

I would try calling if you don’t seem to be getting a response from email.

I'm having trouble with venues response time too. I have this one venue I would love to look at while I'm still in town (I go back to class three hrs away) but it's been a couple days since I've contacted them and still no word.

Are you communicating only through email? I'd suggest calling them

Some places have been a little slower like that with their responses, but I would just email them or give them a call. Nothing wrong with following up! Smiley smile

It’s normal and I’d drop them. I didn’t want anyone handling my wedding who couldn’t handle an email/phone call. Plus the ppl who I didn’t hear back from in a few days or less I never heard from again.

I agree with the above post about calling. It is the quickest and easiest way to get info from/for your venue. I personally think it helps get to know who you'll be working with as well. And your email may have just gotten buried if its a popular venue. A lot of places are finishing up the busiest part of wedding season.
