Vendor Not Responding

Domanic, on June 28, 2017 at 9:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

Vent and Questions:

I have been trying to contact a vendor about my cake and she has not responded at all. When I called a few weeks prior, she had the worst attitude. My final payment is due six weeks before the wedding which is in a couple of weeks and I still haven't received an email or anything. I feel like she is trying to have me miss sending in my payment so she can say I broke our contract. I would hate to think someone would do or act like this when they have a business. I just feel like if you are paying someone for a service, they should be able to be reached and respond in a timely manner and vice versa. FRUSTRATED!!!! I need to know what should my next step be?

Have you put down any money on this cake? I feel like if I could, I'd find another vendor. She sounds flaky, and I'd hate to stress about the cake not showing up or something on my big day.

ETA: I was having the same issue with my transportation vendor. I finally just gave up and decided to go with somebody else. It's weird. Like how do they stay in business?

Have you tried calling or stopping in the bakery?

Yes, I paid half. I didn't want to just show up at her shop to have a discussion because I do t think that would be professional on my part, but this is too much.

I stay in a small town so pretty much everyone is booked.

If she has a public bakery, as in she doesn't bake out of her kitchen (which I hope she doesn't) it's not at all unprofessional to go in with a payment.

"Hey I keep missing you, just wanted to check in and leave my final payment"

That's not unprofessional at all, especially if you've been trying to reach her and she hasn't responded. And you need to know what's going on. I would recommend stopping by to see her. Maybe she was having a bad day when she was rude on the phone...?

I would definitely go to her shop. That way you know you can't miss her.

She has a $50 fee if another meeting is required which is not the problem, I just need to know what is going on. I don't like doing things at the last minute especially when it's something so special like our wedding.

Wow, so irking! I would definitely stop by and say what @Melissa said to say. So unprofessional of the BAKER to not get back to you, not the other way around.

She charges $25 for the tasting (the initial meeting) another meeting is $50. She wants the payment mailed, but my issue with that is my payment could possibly get lost in the mail like some of my invitations.

Wow $50 just for another meeting?! She shouldn't charge you just to go in her shop to drop off the payment and see what's going on.

Definitely should not charge you to drop off payment. Just let her know you have concerns with snail mail and are dropping off a check.

I hear you. I hate it when vendors don't respond most especially if you already paid them. Its very unprofessional of them to do that. IMO you should drop by at her shop and talk to her. That would give you peace of mind.

I would definitely stop in with payment, if she can't respond to you then she needs to face you and explain herself.

Just mail it at the post office. Pay a little extra for tracking and require a signature.
