Vendor meals question

Bethany, on May 13, 2014 at 7:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Hey guys! Just a quick question, who are you guys providing food for at the reception? Obviously we will want to provide our photographer and DJ as they will be there the whole evening, but are you guys providing for anyone else? Our hairstylist, florist, cake, etc. will not really be there during the reception so didn't know what etiquette is for them. Also the wedding coordinator who sets up all the weddings will be there day of, so I assume we get her a meal as well?

There is just so much to think about and I don't want to be rude/forget about someone!!

We provided meals for vendors that would be there at the start of dinner hour -- coordinator (+ 1 assistant), DJ, photographer (+1 assistant), bus driver (we had a shuttle for guests.)

I would recommend asking the coordinator what is typical for your venue/set-up/plan. I was glad I asked or we might have forgotten our photog's assistant.

Our photographers, dj/dj assistant all got food at the reception. Our officiant didn't stay. We had snacks (donuts, fruit, chips, wraps, chocolate, bottled water) in the room while the hair and makeup people were there that they were welcome to.

Dj, officiant and photographer. We allowed them to choose from our 3 guest options.

Typically if the vendor will be working during a meal time OR if they will be with you more than 4 hours, a vendor meal is typically included. (Many vendors will include the meal requirement in their contract).

Our vendors are factored into our guest count for dinner, their plate is 50% off the price. My officiant will be staying, dj, photographer, and videographers (2 people) are factored in.

We will be feeding both our photographers, DJ and photobooth person, we will ask our DOC who works at our venue full time if she would like us to provide hers, but I don't think its really necessary as most people in that working in that position in an environment like that already have their meals provided by their employer, coming from personal experience

DJ, Photobooth operator, Officiant, Photographer. They all stated in their contract that they would like a vendor meal offered since they will be there a while (the officiant will stay at the reception if there is nothing else that night because he said he likes us enough to stay Smiley smile He's a fun guy). You will need to speak to them individually and ask. It's not awkward to ask them because this is what they do. And it's better to ask than have them expect one and go starving the whole night and you get a cranky vendor for your wedding.

Photographers and DJ will get meals (the same meal as guests). The other vendors are there for a shorter time to set up and are then leaving, so they won't be there over dinner.

Our officiant is also a guest so he'll be at a guest table.

Our florist/decor will not be there during dinner so no meal....our hair and makeup people will be at our hotel only so i will have them help themselves to our nibbles we have during getting ready!

the only people who had in their contract that we had to feed them was: dj, coordinator and photographer

You don't need to feed the people that aren't staying through dinner. We're feeding the two photographers, photo booth attendant, and DJ. No one else will be there during the event.

We are just feeding our photographers and jazz band. Our photographers didn't put food in their contract but they are there for 8 hours, there is no way we're not feeding them. Our officiant has another wedding that day so he isn't staying for the reception. I will have some things to snack on for our hair and MUAs in my hotel room that morning. Thank goodness the band was super affordable to book, because they have 7 people and our venue doesn't offer any vendor meal - they are eating what everyone else is at the same cost.

I'd say anyone who's going to be working for a number of hours on the day. Your officiant if they are a family pastor/rabbi.

Sounds like you have the right idea. Photographer, videographer if applicable and their staff who is working your event, and DJ. I usually don't see officiants stay for the reception but Celia may chime in here, as far as whether to invite them and see what they say and go from there.

We are including whoever happens to be the coordinator (either people we hire or who the venue ends up providing), the DJ, the officiant, and the photographer and second shooter for a MEAL. We are getting extra cakepops if we have to hire a security person, photo booth attendant, the caterer, etc. because we want to be able to offer them something even though they will only be there for a short period of time.

We'll be feeding the vendors that will be there during the reception - photographer, videographer, and dj. My officiant is not attending the reception ( her own choice).

I'm providing for any vendor that will be there during dinner time. Which is our photographer, videographer and assistant, MC, and DJ.
